A 'Pilgrims of Hope' Prayer

Loving God,

You created all people to be equal.

Yet, throughout the world many are struggling

to find even the most basic things they need:

food, water, safety and education.

In this Year of Jubilee,

when we are called to be pilgrims of hope,

we pray for greater justice.

May we work to ensure that earth is truly a common home for everyone,

shared by all and enjoyed in security.

May we be instruments of your peace

Amen

St Roch's Staff Faith Formation Day

On Friday, the staff of St Roch's joined together for a Faith Formation Day with Father Michael Gallacher. As educators in a Catholic school, we are committed to continually gaining a deeper understanding of faith to support the high standards of RE learning and teaching and also numerous Catholic Identity opportunities that are provided at St Roch's.

As part of the special 'Jubilee Year' celebrations with the theme of 'Pilgrims of Hope', staff journeyed through significant locations in Catholic education,  reflecting on the significant places and people in our faith and Catholic history. These locations included tours of St Francis Church (the first Catholic Church in Victoria), St Patrick's Cathedral and the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre.  The pilgrimage, both a physical and spiritual journey, provided a rich opportunity to deepen our faith and understanding, our connection to God and also to each other as members of the St Roch’s community.

On Friday 8th August, staff and  students will join together to spend time reflecting on the inspiring life and actions of Mary MacKillop. They will explore how Mary’s life is a model for us all and identify ways that we can ‘follow in her footsteps’ and enrich the lives of others.
