Acting Principal's Message

Exciting Capital Grant Success for St. Joseph’s!
St. Joseph’s has received permission to formally announce that we have been successful in securing funding through the 2025 Australian Federal Government Capital Grants Program for Non-Government Schools. Our application has been approved for $1.677 million.
This significant funding will support the refurbishment and expansion of:
- A general learning area
- Student amenities (toilets)
- Furniture and equipment for the new learning area
Potentially, if funds permit, a Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA)
We have already held an initial meeting with our architects, who anticipate that planning and preparation will be completed by the end of 2026, with construction expected to commence in 2027.
Over the coming months, design plans will move through rigorous consultation processes to ensure the very best outcomes for our students and community. This is an exciting and important chapter in our school’s journey, and we look forward to sharing updates with you as the project progresses. Stay tuned!
Illegal Rubbish Dumping
Over the past three weeks, our school has experienced two separate incidents of illegal rubbish dumping in our school skip bin. On both occasions, the locks were broken and large household items; including a mattress, microwaves, chairs, fish tanks, ironing boards and suitcases were left in our bin.
Following discussions with the Council and local Police, we had no alternative but to arrange and pay for an additional emptying of the skip. Unfortunately, this is an expense that the school must cover. These are funds we would much rather direct towards resources, programs and opportunities for our students.
This situation has been both frustrating and disappointing. If you notice any suspicious activity around the school grounds, particularly after hours, please report it to the appropriate authorities.
Uniform Blitz – Supporting High Standards
Over the coming weeks, we will be conducting a couple of uniform “Blitz” reminders to support our high expectations around school presentation and consistency.
Hair Accessories: Hair accessories must be in school colours only — blue, yellow/gold or white. This helps maintain a consistent and neat appearance across the school.
School Shoes: On non-PE days, students are required to wear black shoes. Sneakers are to be worn only on designated Physical Education days.
We appreciate the support of our families in ensuring students arrive at school dressed in full and correct uniform each day. Wearing the school uniform with pride reflects our shared commitment to belonging, high standards and respect for our community.
