FRIDAY 7 MARCH 2025

PHYSICS IN ACTION || Yesterday, our Year 12 Physics students stepped beyond the classroom and into Luna Park for a dynamic VCE Physics Day! This hands-on learning experience, designed by teachers, allowed students to explore real-world applications of motion in two dimensions—directly linking to the VCE Physics Study Design. Luna Park’s rides provided the perfect real-world setting for students to observe physics principles in motion.

FRIDAY 7 MARCH 2025

GEOGRAPHY FIELDWORK – DANDENONG RANGES || Our VCE Unit 1 Geography students explored the Dandenong Ranges yesterday as part of their fieldwork excursion, investigating bushfire risk and preparedness. They visited both residential and tourist areas affected by past bushfires, collecting valuable data for their major assessment. Students also had the opportunity to meet with staff from Forest Fire Management at DEECD, gaining expert insights into fire prevention strategies and emergency response planning.

TUESDAY 11 MARCH 2025

KINGSTON DIVISIONAL SWIMMING || Our swimming superstars delivered some incredible performances and demonstrated true team spirit at today’s Divisional Championships. Beaumaris came 3rd overall—an outstanding achievement!

 

A special shout-out to Eve A for being crowned the 17s age group champion, and to Keegan B and Gemma H for taking out the title of 16s age group champions—an amazing effort!

TOP CLASS THEATRE STUDIES SHOWCASE || Our VCE Theatre Studies students attended the VCAA Top Class showcase today, featuring a selection of outstanding A+ monologues from the 2024 external exams. A valuable opportunity to inspire and inform their own work as they prepare for monologue exams later this year.

LIFE THROUGH THE LENS – CITY PORTRAITS || Yesterday, our Year 9 & 10 'Life Through the Lens' ventured into the city to capture stunning portraits, exploring how backgrounds can elevate photography. Here’s a glimpse!

PERFECTING PRECISION AT TEN PIN BOWLING || Today, our Year 9 & 10 'Game, Set, Match' student took their skills to the lanes for some Ten Pin Bowling! They focused on perfecting aim, accuracy, precision and force as part of their exploration of 'Target Sports.' Great teamwork and fun all around!

DEBATING VICTORY || Congratulations to Skyla F, Charlie B and Gemma H for their impressive win against Firbank last night! They argued convincingly on the topic of whether all young people aged 16–22 should receive a Universal Basic Income. Well done on a great performance!

CAREER INDUSTRY EXPO || BGKLLEN hosted their annual Career Industry Expo at the college today! Our Year 9 and 10 students engaged with local industry experts, explored potential career paths within the vocational sector and discovered the amazing support networks available in our community. It was an enriching day filled with valuable insights, and we appreciate the knowledge shared.

EXPLORING MARKET POWER AT QUEEN VIC MARKET || Today, our Unit 1 Economics students took a deep dive into market theory with a hands-on case study at the Queen Victoria Market. Working in groups, they gathered evidence to assess whether the QVM operates as a perfectly competitive market. Next, they’ll analyse their findings and prepare a detailed economic report for their assessment.

2025 COLLEGE PRODUCTION AUDITIONS || A huge congratulations to all the students who auditioned for our 2025 College Production of Puffs (or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic) after school today! CELEBRATING OUR CLASS OF 2024 TERTIARY PATHWAYS || We are incredibly proud of the diverse range of tertiary pathways our 2024 graduates have chosen to pursue, from biomedicine, engineering, business, allied health, and law to science, commerce, media, education, the arts, accounting, nursing, and more. It’s wonderful to see them following their passions and embarking on such varied and exciting paths.

YEAR 9 JAPANESE CITY EXCURSION || Our Year 9 Japanese students had an amazing time exploring Japanese culture today! They attended an insightful seminar at the Consulate-General of Japan, enjoyed a delicious Japanese lunch and put their Term 1 knowledge to the test with a fun city scavenger hunt.

TOP ARTS EXHIBITION || Our VCE Art students were wowed by the creativity and skill on display at the NGV's Top Arts exhibition today. The exhibition showcased outstanding works and folios from 2024 VCE Art and Art Making & Exhibiting students, leaving our students feeling motivated and very inspired!

WEDNESDAY 19 MARCH 2025 

FAIRWAY AGED CARE JAM || Another successful Fairway Aged Care Jam this afternoon! Huge thanks to Will, Judah and Skye for their brilliant performances, which had the residents singing along to classics like ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’. It’s wonderful to see our students building confidence while giving back to the community, and we are looking forward to more memorable moments in Term 2!
