100 Days of Amazing!

Our youngest students recently had a wonderful time celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten. 

Students paraded their amazing t-shirt creations displaying 100 things. Items included butterflies, stickers, lego pieces, sparkly gems, love hearts, dinosaurs and more! What creative children and families we have!

Students spent time in each of the Kindy classrooms exploring what the number 100 looks like with big and little items. We stacked cups, built brick walls, painted and coloured in, decorated number 100 biscuits with 100s & 1000s and so much more.

A highlight of the day, after completing 100 exercises, was sharing things we have been grateful for during our 100 days of school. Students mentioned their friends and teachers, learning about writing, tricky words, God and butterflies. It was a wonderful time of reflection and sharing.

Jump, Throw and Run to Primary State Athletics

Eleven of our primary department's best runners, jumpers and throwers descended on Blacktown in Western Sydney on Friday 21 August for a day of athletics at the CSSA Primary State Championships. 

Lachy B and Kye B both soared over the bar to achieve 1.15m and 1.10m respectively. Tyler C jumped loooooong to record 3.55m in his event! Noah P also just loooong, recording 3.26m for his event. Harry S, flew down the back straight, not once, but twice in his 100m and 200m individual events. He recorded pb's for both finishing in 14.74s and 31.65s respectively. 

Cam C finished 4th in 100m recording a personal best of 13.34s and did likewise in the 200m finishing over a second faster than at zone in 27.90s. In doing so, he has qualified for the upcoming primary CIS athletics event at Homebush. Congratulations, Cam! 

Arlo D also beat his 100m and 200m pb's from zone, finishing in 15.70s and 32.40s for 12th and 4th places. He just misses out on CiS for 200m by a couple of seconds.

Alexandria N and Olivia F, our 'throwing threats' from the Year 6 girls were both in fine form in shot putt and discus, both finishing in commendable 5th places in their respective events. 

In one of the last events of the day, our Senior Boys 4x100m relay team, comprising of Cam, Harry, Sam K and Elijah JC smashed their zone time to finish in 8th place overall in a time of 57.83s.

Thanks to all the parents who travelled up and back with their children, some for the (about) 15 seconds of their child's event! Much appreciated. These are the place memories are made!

We look forward to Cam participating in the next level of competition C.I.S. at the Homebush Olympic Park athletics track in Sydney. We'll be cheering you on from near or far!

Straight from the garden

Year 3 has been working hard in the garden all year. Along the way we have been able to sample some of the tasty treats we have grown. Recently we had an extra special treat. We were able to harvest a gorgeous purple cauliflower and even better the wonderful staff in the canteen used their clever skills and turned it into tasty cauliflower soup. What a special treat being able to gobble up delicious soup made from cauliflower grown right here at school.

CSSA State Success for NCS Athletes

A talented group of 14 Secondary students proudly represented NCS on Thursday 27 August at the CSSA State Athletics Carnival held at Sydney Olympic Park (SOPAC). Throughout the day, our athletes demonstrated determination, school spirit and impressive skill across a range of events. 

Many of our athletes also recorded personal bests and showed clear improvement from their school carnival and Zone performances and as a Zone we proudly placed 6th overall.

We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Amelia, Layla and Emily, who have now qualified for the NSWCIS Secondary Athletics Championships later this term. 

Their commitment and performance have earned them a well‑deserved opportunity to compete at the next level.

Thank you to the parents and carers who assisted with transport and supported our athletes - especially those who braved the early morning start. Your encouragement and presence make a meaningful difference to our students’ experience.

More Language Champions!!

At the beginning of this term, Education Perfect, our online langauge learning app, ran a Regional Competition for each of the states. The dates were Monday 27 July at 8am to Sunday 2 August at 5pm. As the challenge literally started on students' first day back, they were encouraged to rise to the occasion, but little time was given to the competition in class.  

In NSW, 276 schools participated and our school was 74th overall.

In the category of 51-100 students we came: - 6th out of 23 schools and 3rd for French out of 11 schools. Amazing right!

Some more stats: (Yes, I secretly like Maths, but don't tell Mr Clarke!)

• 5,064 points earned
• 30 hours spent learning

Great work everyone.

Our two champion students in this comp were:

Noah Graham (221st) for answering 2,571 questions 850 points and

Julian Palmer (330th) answering 2,102 questions earning 533 points.

These results placed them in the top 20% of competitors in the state.
