Book Week

Students have started their book week activities already, reading a range of shortlisted books and sharing their reviews as well as participating in an online workshop with author and singer/songwriter Josh Pyke. Don't forget...the book parade will be held on Friday the 28th of August (this Friday). We encourage all students to come along dressed as their favourite book character.

Creator Club

Creator Club had a book week theme this week, with students drawing their favourite book or book character. Congratulations to Agni and Jay in 1K for winning this week's prize.

Sharing our values with pride

We are thrilled to have our new values poles installed along the walkway as you enter the front gate. What a great way to highlight our school values to students and visitors to our school community.

Damage to pedestrian barrier and intermittent 40km speed sign

Thank you to those community members who let us know that the electronic 40km speed sign on Boundary Road is working intermittently. This issue has been reported to the Road Transport Department to be addressed. The damage to the pedestrian barrier on West Street has also been reported to Merri-bek Council for attention.

2026 Parent / Carer Opinion Survey:

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026. All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphone. An email was sent on Monday the 17th of August with the link and pin for you to complete the survey.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

Last year the survey results showed that communication was an area we could improve in and that families wanted more information about their child’s learning. In response, this year we have introduced progress reports completed in Term 1 and 3. We have also reviewed our learning management system and upgraded our school website. Your feedback really does make a difference! Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

Reminder: Safe to School

A number of concerns have been raised about the traffic around our school including West Street and Peachy Court. These include:

speeding in the school zone
parking across residents driveways
doing u-turns and blocking traffic flow
becoming impatient, beeping and making other motorists feel unsafe during pick up time

U-turns are prohibited in many school zones, particularly near crossings and intersections. Even where not explicitly banned, performing U-turns near schools can be risky due to reduced visibility and unpredictable pedestrian movement. Drivers should plan their routes to avoid the need for complex turning manoeuvres near school entrances.
