Performing Arts

What an amazing Term 3 we have had in Performing Arts!
The 3-6 students started the term strong with rehearsing and finalizing the 3-6 concert “An Audition of a Lifetime”. It was good to see so many students show off their talents and interest in Performing Arts. The Grade 3 and 5 students performed a dance routine, the Grade 4 students incorporated all elements of dance, music and drama and performed popular musical theatre routines and the Grade 6 students learnt the ukulele and performed music and singing. The choir and band also performed hit songs from the musicals Wicked and School of Rock.
All parents, staff and students voted on their favourite class act as part of the judging theme for the concert. The results were as followed;
1st: Synchronised Swimmers (Grade 5)
2nd: Hard Knock Life (Grade 4)
3rd: Revolting Children (Grade 4)
4th: Uptown Funk (Grade 5)
Well done to all students for their hard work. The 3-6 students are now moving onto learning to create, read and write their own music pieces.
The F-2 students have been working hard this term learning the elements of dance, music and drama. They too are beginning to create their own music, dance and drama. The students have been inspired with drama and are creating their own drama representations of familiar fairy tales. The students will begin learning and rehearsing for their F-2 concert next term.
Our assemblies have been jammed packed, showcasing talent from across the school. Foundation C had the opportunity to show their learning of using different resources to perform dance. Foundation A performed their drama re-enactment of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”. We had Joal Emmanuel (piano/vocals) and Chelsea Mozes (lead vocals) perform a duet, and Leo Barker, Matilda Wallis and Claudia Meunier all lead the National Anthem at Assembly. The School Band and Choir both performed at the 3-6 concert with outstanding reviews. Mrs. Creamer and her Father also performed a duet at the Father’s Day Breakfast.
I look forward to another term ahead. (Mrs Creamer)
