Maths Games Day

Below are some pieces written by students about the recent Maths Games Day at Keysborough Primary School.
On Friday 14th August, 12 students were selected to represent and participate in Maths Games Day. The event was held at Keysborough Primary School, and over 20 schools came on that day! Each school was separated into teams of 4 - 5, and the teams from Athol road were:
Team One: Nelson, Florence, Gordon and Emily
Team Two: Rebecca, Bethel, Pony, and Hunter
Team Three: Oscar, Edward, Chloe and Sylvia
During our day, we were given opportunities to win prizes, and a few people from Athol Road managed to win some prizes - Nelson and Edward won a $10 Kmart giftcard!!
Although not all of us were able to win a prize, we still had lots of fun working together to play the games!
In the first segment, our activities were all teamwork activities that required the whole team helping. During the second segment, we did different activities that were also really fun. One highlight was when the game '24', was presented. This game was amazing and really fun to play. At the end of the day, we did lots of fun challenges and activities. We played individual games, but they were still as fun as the team challenges. And the winners were announced at the end, and although Athol Road didn’t make it to Top 3, everyone tried their best and had lots of fun trying.
Congratulations to everyone that participated, and we are proud to know how the teams went. Everyone showed impressive thinking skills, teamwork, work ethic and big effort in the games. Well done to everyone who came to Maths Games Day!

The Maths Games Day was really fun! There were many fun activities, like 'Tangrams', 'Neighbours', 'Guess How Many Jelly Beans Are in the Jar', and many more. My favourite game was 24. There were four numbers on a card. The aim of the game was to make 24 by using each number once. You could use division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction, but had to make sure you used all four numbers and the answer equalled 24.

Maths Games Day at Keysborough Primary School was really fun. We got to play games against many schools. The games we played were '24', 'Neighbours', and 'Chinese Tickle Tackle'. There were also solo games, some of them being respective with our tag colour, where I won a $10 Kmart gift card.
