Visual Arts

Prep AW & Prep ST – Visual Arts
This term in Prep, we discovered how to draw different kinds of lines – straight, curly, zigzag, and wavy. We also learned how to make patterns by repeating lines to create fun and interesting designs. Students then carefully used watercolours, choosing a new colour for each section of their artwork. By the end of the lesson, they had created colourful line paintings that showed off all their new skills.
1GC & 1BW – Visual Arts
In Year One, students drew a large turtle by following step-by-step directions. They decorated their turtles using different line patterns, including zig-zags, bubbles, waves, swirls, and curves. Their finished turtle drawings were full of detail and creativity, with each one looking unique.
2AP & 2MC – Visual Arts
Year Two students created insects by using markers to fill shapes with repeated patterns. They made sure their insects looked the same on both sides, learning about symmetry and balance. The finished insects were bright, colourful, and carefully designed, showing how students could combine pattern and colour in creative ways.
4JR & 4EK – Visual Arts
In Year Four, students were inspired by the famous artwork The Great Wave. They experimented with colour by combining cool and warm tones in their watercolour paintings. By adding extra water to their paints, students created lighter shades, which added depth and texture to their waves. Their artworks captured the energy and movement of the sea and were each unique in colour and design.
5AT & 5JM – Visual Arts
Year Five students explored Pop Art through portrait painting. They focused on using primary colours (red, blue, and yellow) to paint bold sections of their portraits. To add pattern and texture, they experimented with stamping Ben-Day dots using everyday tools like texta lids, cotton buds, and crayons. Their portraits were colourful, creative, and full of personality, showing how Pop Art can make everyday images bold and exciting.
Drawing Club – Book Week
During Book Week, some students created their own adventures in the Art Room by designing imaginative and detailed maps. Well done to all the students for their creativity and effort!
Happy Creating,
Adele (Visual Arts Teacher)
