Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships

Year 3
Year 4
Over the past few weeks in RRRR, students have been focusing on the importance of help-seeking and positive communication. They have been learning how to use communication skills that strengthen peer support, as well as identifying a range of conflict resolution and help-seeking strategies to work through problems respectfully. Students have also explored the concept of leadership, discussing when it is appropriate to step into this role, and practiced strategies they can use in situations that may feel uncomfortable or unsafe. To put these ideas into action, students took part in activities such as charades, where they built on their non-verbal communication skills and acted out different help-seeking scenarios in a fun and engaging way.
Year 5
In Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Year 5 students have been learning about Positive Coping Strategies. We have been discussing and exploring what helps us to reset and to calm ourselves or deal with stress when required.
We also looked at the beautiful text ‘We are Australians’ with its brilliantly colourful paintings by Jandamarra Cadd. We explored the rights of Aboriginal people and their connection to country and discussed how the pictures enhanced the meaning of the story. This topic also linked to our latest Inquiry topic ‘Call to Action’ about the rights of children and the opportunities we have to be advocate for our own rights as well as the right of others.
