Assistant Principal

Learner Agency and Inclusion

Leadership Announcement: Assistant Principal

I am incredibly grateful and excited to be continuing at Lockleys North Primary School in my newly appointed role as Assistant Principal, Learner Agency and Inclusion.

As I head into my 13th year at LNPS and my third year in leadership, I feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school community. Over the years, I have seen our school go through many changes, and I am excited to have the opportunity to play a part in shaping the positive changes that lie ahead.

I genuinely love what I do and feel privileged to work alongside such dedicated staff, amazing students and supportive families. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow and expand my knowledge and skills so that I can provide the best possible support to our students, staff and families.

I'm particularly excited to build on the fantastic work and initiatives we already have in place, further strengthening student voice, agency and inclusion, while continuing to develop meaningful connections with families across our school community.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support. I feel incredibly lucky to be doing something I love, at a school I care so much about, and I'm excited for what the future holds for LNPS!

Our Active Lunch program continues to be a hit with students! On Mondays, our Student Ambassadors and senior students have been busy organising a range of activities for our Rowell and Mellor students, including target games, bowling, soccer and throwing challenges. It has been fantastic to see such great participation, with plenty of students getting involved and having fun!

On Tuesdays, our Torrens students have been enjoying full-court basketball games, with three teams of around six players competing in some fun and competitive matches. A big thank you to our Student Ambassadors and senior students for helping organise and run these activities. It's great to see students being active, building friendships and enjoying their lunchtimes together!

Active Lunch runs from 1:00–1:25 pm in the gym, with a range of games, activities and challenges for students to enjoy

  • Monday: Rowell & Mellor
  • Tuesday: Torrens
  • Friday: Fisher

A big thank you to our Student Ambassadors who continue to help organise equipment and support these lunchtime opportunities. We love seeing our students making the most of the different ways to connect, play and enjoy their lunch breaks at LNPS!

Parachute Club - TERM 4

Parachute Club will be starting up again in T4. Our Ambassadors and Student Leaders will be running this again at recess time for our Rowell and Mellor students to engage with.

We are usually set up on the grass, just outside of R7. The students have loved engaging with it so far this year!

Soccer Goals Rotation – Term Update

Soccer continues to be an extremely popular lunchtime activity at LNPS, and we’re fortunate to have two sets of goals available for students to enjoy.

Our rotation between Torrens and Fisher classes across the eastern and western goals, along with Mellor students accessing both sets on Fridays, has worked really well this term. The schedule is becoming part of our regular lunchtime routine, with fewer issues and students developing a good understanding of when and where they can play.

Looking ahead to Term 4, our footy goals will also be back up – with brand-new goals ready to go!

Exciting Progress on Our Front of School Redevelopment!

Our front-of-school redevelopment is moving into its next exciting stage! After our LNPS Student Ambassadors and Student Leaders shared their creative ideas and designs for the space, we have now passed these concepts on to our landscaper, who will begin developing mock-up designs of what our new school frontage could look like! It has been fantastic to have our students involved in shaping the future of our school, and we are excited to see how their ideas might be incorporated into the final designs.

We can't wait to share the next stage of this exciting project with our school community!

CE Student Forum – Student Ambassadors – Embracing Mistakes and Creating Opportunities to Learn!

Our LNPS Student Ambassadors have been busy preparing for their exciting leadership opportunity at the Term 4, Week 5 CE Student Forum, where they have been invited to lead a 10-minute breakout session with students from other schools!

Their presentation, titled "Embracing Mistakes and Creating Opportunities to Learn," focuses on the difference between Learning Mode and Performance Mode, exploring how students can feel comfortable making mistakes, accepting feedback and learning through challenges.

Our Ambassadors have started gathering evidence through student video diaries, discussions and Google Forms, developing their own questions to explore how their peers feel about making mistakes, receiving feedback and having opportunities to practise and improve.

This inquiry also links closely to our LNPS Learner Quality of Resilience, encouraging students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and keep improving.

We are incredibly proud of the initiative and leadership our Ambassadors are demonstrating and look forward to seeing them share their findings and represent LNPS at the upcoming forum!

Thank you!
