Week 4 Update

As always, Term 4 is flying by, and we are already approaching the halfway point of our final term. Teachers are busy preparing Semester 2 Reports and working through class placements for 2027, alongside the many activities and events that make this such an exciting time at LNPS. There is certainly plenty happening! Throughout it all, our focus remains on providing the best possible learning experiences for every student and supporting a positive finish to the year.

A quick reminder about our Pupil Free Day on Monday 9th November. During our upcoming PFD, staff will continue to review our Site Learning Plan, with a focus on developing assessment capable learners. This means helping students understand what they are learning, what success looks like and what they need to do next. We will work together to strengthen our shared approach to visible teaching and learning, particularly our use of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.

These help make the purpose of learning clear and support students to recognise their progress. Building consistent teaching practices and language across our classrooms will help students reflect on their learning, use feedback and take greater ownership of their next steps.

OSHC will be available, so please see Jenny for bookings.

Assistant Principal Appointment – Learner Agency and Inclusion

We are pleased to announce that Anton Starr has been successfully appointed as Assistant Principal – Learner Agency and Inclusion, commencing in 2027.

This role reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring every child feels included, supported and empowered to take an active role in their learning.

Anton brings a wealth of experience, a strong understanding of our school community and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for all students. In this role, he will continue to strengthen student voice, ownership of learning and inclusive practices across our school. Please join us in congratulating Anton on his appointment as we look forward to this exciting next chapter at LNPS.

Governing Council

The Governing Council at Lockleys North Primary School is a hard working group of parents and staff who work collaboratively to provide a quality learning environment for your children.

Its members are responsive to any issues that arise and their role is to determine the views of our local community with regard to the educational needs of the school. The Governing Council informs the Principal of these views and needs.

We have 5 vacancies starting in 2027 and are calling for nominations from members of the school community to stand for Council. Councillors elected serve for two years.

Meetings are for about 2 hours (7.00-9.00pm) twice a term.  If you would like further information regarding Governing Council, or would like to nominate for a vacancy please email  tyson.grinham428@schools.sa.edu.au by 3pm Monday 16th November.

There will be an election of people after this date in which the whole school community is provided with a voting slip if we have more nominations than vacancies.

We encourage parents to get involved and stand for election to the Council.

The Gathering Garden: A Place to Connect and Belong

We are excited to share that LNPS has been successful in our application for Bullying No Way Week safe spaces project funding, securing $14,300 to support The Gathering Garden!

This funding provides a wonderful opportunity to build on our commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces where students feel valued, included and connected to our school community. The Gathering Garden will support our ongoing focus on student wellbeing and belonging, reflecting our school values of Respect and Care and Concern.

Helping students build positive relationships and contribute to a caring school community is part of our everyday work at LNPS. We look forward to bringing The Gathering Garden to life and sharing more with families as the project develops.
