School Shoes 2027

At the School Advisory Council on Tuesday 20 October a policy decision was made to provide clarity of direction for the purchase of school shoes for the New Year 2027.

School Shoe Requirement

Everyday school shoes must be plain black, enclosed, leather or leather-look school shoes in a traditional school-shoe style.

Acceptable shoes should:

  • Be entirely black, including the upper, sole, stitching and fastenings.
  • Have a leather or leather-look upper that can be wiped clean/polished.
  • Be an enclosed, supportive school shoe suitable for everyday classroom and playground use.
  • Be a traditional lace-up, Velcro/adjustable strap, T-bar or Mary Jane school-shoe design.
  • Have a low-profile, practical sole suitable for school use.
  • Have no prominent branding, coloured logos, stripes or decorative features.

Not acceptable: sports/running shoes, sneakers, basketball shoes, skate shoes, canvas shoes or fashion shoes, even where they are black or advertised by the manufacturer/retailer as a "school shoe."

See the following examples of black school shoes that may be worn at St Francis de Sales.

All children should be in the correct full school uniform at all times. Summer uniform is worn in Terms One and Four while Winter uniform is worn in Terms Two and Three. Students will have an allocated sports day when they can wear their sports uniform. From time to time the children will be allowed to wear “casual” clothes. Parents always receive notification in advance of these occasions. Only studs or small sleeper-style earrings are suitable for school.

The wearing of correct school uniform reflects pride in our school and creates an atmosphere of being a member of a larger community. We ask for your co-operation in seeing that the students wear the school uniform.

Children are reminded to wear a hat when playing outside and add sun cream to protect them from harmful UV rays.

The P&F have a second hand uniform shop that is available at school and open on Thursday mornings.

We are in need of larger sizes across all uniforms.

If you have any clean items in very good condition with no rips, holes, zips working or no buttons missing at home that no longer fit, please consider donating them.

We have lots of smaller sizes available.

All items are only $5 each and support the P&F fundraising for the school. Alternatively new items of uniform can be purchased from Beleza in Hallam or Cranbourne.
