CIS Reaccreditation Updates

As I write this newsletter article, we are in the middle of our CIS Evaluation Team Visit, the final stage of our CIS Reaccreditation process. The team consists of four experienced educators from around the globe who have come to learn about our school and provide valuable feedback to guide our ongoing journey of improvement. During their stay, they will visit classrooms to observe our teaching and learning programs, as well as host conversations with school leaders, teachers, students, and parents. For our school, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our community and reflect on our positive impact on our students and families.

Below are some reflections/highlights from our community about the CIS visit:

“On the first day of the CIS review, we engaged in a workshop model to showcase our GWPS approaches with Bruce, Jude, Chris, and Greg. It was a great first-day task, as we were able to share our whole-school approaches, such as Ochre English, Maths, and InitiaLit.” – Emma W, Learning Specialist – Mathematics

“The reviewers helped us realise the value of planning as a team and the positive impact these workshops have on both teachers and students. They even provided ideas on how to extend our high achievers.” – The Year 5 Team

“It was wonderful to think about and celebrate what we do every day. I also had the opportunity to reflect on how much our school has grown over time.” – Miss Farch

“During our TRP and Literature lessons, the CIS representatives came in to see how we learn at our school. As they watched with curiosity, they were able to see the great things happening in our classrooms, and we learned from them as well. Ultimately, they visited to help us continue to improve.” – 5E Class

“I had the opportunity to express my thoughts and perspectives on Student Voice at our school and share them with reviewers from around the world. They really enjoyed our presentation and asked insightful questions about Student Agency, which gave me great ideas for where we can go next.” – Saakhi, Student Voice Captain

“The reviewers asked many questions about our school, including how our teachers teach and how we learn. It gave me a chance to reflect on my own experiences and share my thoughts on what makes our school great, as well as areas where we can continue to improve.” – Thinuli, CIS Captain

“Your parents couldn’t be any prouder of your school.” – Chris, CIS Reviewer

“Overwhelmingly, parents believed the school goes above and beyond to support not only the students but also their families, with that support continuing well beyond primary school. Every need—whether academic, personal, or transitional—is met with genuine care.” – Collective Parents

“We’ve seen fantastic teaching and learning across the school, and you should be very proud of all the good things you do.” – Bruce, CIS Reviewer
