Kinder/Year 1

Last week, K/1/2 began putting our stewardship learning into practice. In Geography, we have been learning that communities thrive when people participate in different ways. Guest speakers Erin Nurthen and Theresa McIntyre kindly visited to tell us about the many local groups and events they help organise. Through their visits, we realised that many of the community events we love rely on dedicated volunteers. We were proud to share how many of our own family members volunteer, and we expressed our sincere gratitude for their efforts. Realising that we too could make a positive impact, we conducted research, collected data, and identified areas around our school that needed extra care.
With the help of the Year 5/6 students - who were also looking for ways to serve our school community - we tackled several gardening tasks and tidied up the school grounds. Did we enjoy volunteering? Absolutely, and we can’t wait to do it again! Did it make a difference? Yes, many people have commented on the improvements in our gardens, though there is always more to do. We look forward to keeping our stewardship growing!
