Visual Arts

This term, all students have been busy creating an exciting collection of 2D and 3D artworks in preparation for our whole-school Celebration of the Arts, being held on the evening of Monday 12 October. Across much of the term, our Visual Arts focus has been creating artworks for our spectacular Great Barrier Reef-themed Glow Gallery. From glow-in-the-dark crabs, sea urchins, seahorses and fish to amazing, colourful coral reefs, the gallery promises to be a fabulous and immersive underwater experience for our school community!

Each class has also been working collaboratively to create a framed artwork, with these special pieces being offered for sale through our Silent Art Auction. This is a major fundraiser for our Visual Arts program and we are thrilled to have 28 framed collaborative artworks on display this year! More information about how families can bid will be shared at a later date.

The Arts Team would also like to extend a huge thank you to all the families who have already contributed items to our Yarn Bombing Sawyer Street installation. Please keep these items coming! Our Year 5/6 Student Leaders are looking forward to transforming Sawyer Street into a colourful and creative display for the event. There is collection tubs located at the Front Office and in the Art Room foyer. The upcoming holidays are a great opportunity to get creative together and use up any leftover wool and craft materials. Pom-poms, weaving stars and finger knitting are fun and simple activities that are perfect for using up scraps of wool.

Finally, a big thank you to the families who have contributed to our soft drink drive. Funds raised through the soft drink sales and our sausage sizzle at our Celebration of the Arts, will also make an important contribution to supporting our wider Arts programs across the school.
