Dear Students and Families,
Public Education Week
As we celebrated Public Education Week last week, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible commitment, enthusiasm, and achievements of our students, teachers, and staff. This special week was an opportunity to highlight the importance of education in shaping the futures of our young people and strengthening our community.
Our open classrooms from Preschool to Year 6, the display in the hall and the choir performing at the Parent and Carer morning tea were a snapshot of the exciting learning experiences happening in our classrooms each day. It was also an opportunity to appreciate the dedication of our educators who inspire and support every student to reach their full potential.
In support of students' aspirations, our students came dressed as their future career - doctors, police officers, scientists, teachers, sporting stars, hairdressers, builders were just some of the choices. We also had some Year 6 students as Principal, Deputy Principal, School Administration Offer and General Assistant for a day! Congratulations to Logan, Thomas, Theodora and Marcel for their effort and enthusiasm. They did a fabulous job.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a place of growth and achievement.
Australian Primary Principals Day
As the proud principal of St Johns Park Public School, I was humbled by the beautiful cards, posters and messages from our students and staff last Friday. I consider myself very fortunate each day to be leading our school community, who are genuinely so kind, caring, supportive and inspiring. I am so grateful and well supported in my role of principal in shaping early education and supporting teachers, students, and families.
Bullying No Way Week
Bullying No Way Week is an initiative in Australian schools dedicated to promoting a safe and supportive school environment, free from bullying. It typically centres on the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, which gives schools and communities a chance to openly discuss strategies to prevent bullying, encourage respectful relationships, and empower students to speak out against bullying.
Our school will be part of this initiative this week (Week 4).
Key elements of Bullying. No Way! Week:
Raising awareness about what bullying is and how it affects individuals.
Promoting a culture of kindness, inclusion, and respect.
Providing information, resources, and support for students, staff, and families.
Running classroom activities to reinforce anti-bullying messages.
Encouraging students to be “upstanders” — people who speak out and support others.
The initiative is supported by the national 'Bullying. No Way!' website, featuring resources, lesson ideas, and support services for educators and families. Participation in Bullying No Way Week is an important opportunity for our school to reinforce our commitment to student wellbeing. It is also an opportunity for families to have a conversation with their children as well. If you’d like more information or details please contact the school.
Book Week
In Week 5, our school is celebrating Book Week. Every year, Book Week is an opportunity to foster imagination, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading. It's a highlight of the year for our school, encouraging everyone to celebrate stories and the power of books.
This year's theme is 'Symphonies of Stories' and our school will be celebrating Book Week with exciting library activities, book readings and the Book Character Parade on Wednesday, 19 August. Parents and family members are welcome to attend the parade. A note with details of times will be published this week
