Save the Date – Book Week Parade 2026- see our poster in this newsletter
Families are invited to save the date for our Book Week Parade on Thursday 27th August.
This year's theme is "A Symphony of Stories", and we look forward to seeing our students celebrate the joy of reading through their costumes.
Your child's class teacher will let you know if their class has chosen a specific dress-up theme. Otherwise, children are welcome to come dressed as any book character or costume of their choice.
More details will be shared closer to the event.
Writing Fables in Year 6
This term, Year 6 students explored the art of writing fables, inspired by our novel study of The Silver Donkey by Sonya Hartnett. In the story, the Lieutenant shares fables with the children to teach important lessons about courage, kindness, honesty, and perseverance.
Using these ideas as inspiration, students developed their narrative writing skills by creating their own fables featuring animal characters, engaging plots, and meaningful morals.
Through this unit, students strengthened their understanding of characterisation, dialogue, descriptive language, and the purpose of storytelling as a way to share wisdom and values that help us become thoughtful and compassionate members of our community.
