Dear Parents and Friends
As we come to the end of another wonderful term of learning, it has been a joy to see the enthusiasm, focus and positivity our students continue to bring to school each day. They have embraced opportunities to be mindful, present and ready to learn, and it has been especially pleasing to see them using their Learning Dispositions to grow as curious, creative and independent learners. Our teachers continue to nurture this by encouraging student voice and agency, helping children to take greater responsibility for their learning and to feel proud of their progress.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for the care, energy and passion they bring to every classroom. Thank you also to our wonderful parents and carers for your ongoing support, encouragement and trust. St Carlo’s is truly a special community, and it is through this strong partnership that we are able to provide the very best for our students.
Staffing News
Congratulations to Miss Pinheiro and her fiancé Tom on their recent engagement. We wish them every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter together.
Our current Italian teacher, Mrs Rosaria Saccardo, will be taking leave for the second half of the year. We wish Rosaria all the very best as she takes time to travel, relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Miss Stephanie Mure will be replacing Rosaria during her leave, and we look forward to welcoming her to this role.
Student Reports
Today you received your child’s Semester One report via email. At times, this email may go to your spam or junk folder, so please check there if it does not appear in your inbox. We also recommend creating a folder to save your child’s report for future reference. If you do not receive your child’s report, please contact the school via email at office@scgreenvale.catholic.edu.au
Parent, Student and Teacher Conversations
Teachers are looking forward to meeting with parents and students for our conversations this week, on Thursday June 25 and Friday June 26. School will finish at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday June 25 and there will be no school for students on Friday July 26. We have allowed 15-minute appointment times, and all parents are expected to attend to discuss their child’s achievements, growth and future learning priorities.
Please read the information in todays newsletter which contains further details including some tips on how to prepare and some questions that you may like to ask.
School Uniform Reminder
A reminder to families that, from the beginning of Term 3, students are expected to wear the correct and approved St Carlo Borromeo school uniform.
All uniform items (including the school jumper) are now in stock and available for purchase from our official supplier, Noone. Families are asked to please take the opportunity during the holiday break to ensure their child has all required uniform items ready for the new term.
Students may wear either the full new uniform or the full previous uniform during the transition period, but not a combination of both. Please ensure that items from the new and old uniforms are not mixed.
As part of the St Carlo Borromeo Primary School enrolment agreement, parents commit to ensuring their child wears the correct school uniform at all times. The official uniform is only available through Noone, and alternative or substitute items purchased from other suppliers are not acceptable.
Thank you for your support in ensuring our students wear their uniform with pride.
AFL 9s District Champions!
Congratulations to both our Boys' and Girls' AFL 9s teams on their outstanding success in winning the District AFL 9s Finals against Greenvale Primary School. Both teams have now qualified for the Woodlands Division AFL 9s Finals, where they will compete against the best schools in the division. Special thanks to their coach Mr Troy!
Parents and Friends and Parent Helpers
Congratulations and thank you to all parents who help and contribute to our school community in so many different ways.
It has been wonderful to see so many parents assisting in classrooms, specialist classes and the canteen. Your support during Term 2 has been greatly appreciated, and both students and teachers have found your assistance invaluable.
Special thanks to our P&F who have had several very successful events including our Mother's Day Stall and our special Hot Food Days. Our Pizza and Pasta day was a tremendous success. We look forward to your continued support in Term 3.
New OSHC Provider - MACSEYE
As you know MACSEYE will be commencing as our OSHC provider at the beginning of Term 3. Children must be enrolled with MACSEYE to attend. If you think your family may need OSHC at any time in the future, we encourage you to complete your MACSEYE enrolment before the end of term. Having an enrolment in place means you'll be ready if you need care in the future. Information on how to enrol is included in today's newsletter.
Student Illness
Our school continues to be impacted by a variety of illnesses, including flu and gastro, and we are still experiencing a higher than usual rate of absenteeism among both students and staff. Please continue to closely monitor your child’s health and keep them home if they are unwell. If your child becomes unwell at school, parents will be contacted and asked to collect them. Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our community safe and minimising the spread of illness.
School Fees
Thank you to the many families who have now paid their school fees in full. For families paying by instalments, please note that the second instalment is now overdue.
It is very important that all school fees are paid in full and on time so that the school can continue to meet its financial obligations. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss your account, or contact our Office Manager, Maria DiMedio, if you would like to set up a direct debit payment plan.
End of Term
This is our final newsletter for Term 2. School will finish this Thursday 25 June at 1:00 p.m., and there will be no school on Friday 26 June due to Parent, Student and Teacher Conversations. Term 3 will commence on Monday 13 July.
I wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break. We ask St Carlo to continue to bless our wonderful parish and school community.
Kevin Gleeson.
