Exciting News
Last week marked a significant milestone for our school community, with the announcement of $10.584 million in funding for a major upgrade of our main building. This investment is incredibly exciting and will deliver long-awaited improvements that will benefit our students, staff and wider community for many years to come.
The upgrade will help modernise key learning spaces and facilities, creating improved environments that better support teaching, learning and student wellbeing. We know how important high-quality learning spaces are for our students, and this announcement represents a major step forward for Cheltenham East Primary School.
We would like to sincerely thank Principal Mr Ridgway and our dedicated School Council team for their tireless advocacy and work behind the scenes in helping secure this funding. Their commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students and community has been unwavering, and this announcement is a reflection of years of persistence, planning and collaboration.
While this funding is very welcome, our fundraising efforts remain incredibly important. Continued community support allows us to further enhance student resources, improve our grounds and outdoor spaces, and maintain and upgrade facilities across the school. These contributions help ensure we can continue providing engaging, safe and high-quality learning environments for all students.
Thank you to our entire school community for your ongoing support and partnership as we continue to grow and improve our wonderful school.
Student attendance
We would like to thank all families for their support and patience throughout Term 1 as we implemented our new student management system, Compass. Transitioning to a new platform is a significant process for schools and families alike, and we greatly appreciate the understanding shown by our community during this period of change.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank families for their ongoing support in updating student absences promptly through the Compass app and parent portal. Ensuring absences are explained as quickly as possible is an important part of our duty of care responsibilities and helps us maintain accurate attendance records for all students.
Your responsiveness and communication are greatly appreciated by our staff.
As we continue to refine and improve our processes, we encourage families to continue using Compass to notify the school of student absences and update any unexplained attendance notifications. If support is ever required with accessing or using the system, families are always welcome to contact the school office for assistance.
Thank you again for your continued support as we work together to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
Junior Mayor
We would like to congratulate our four School Captains, Thomas, Emilia, Tamara and Jayden, for their outstanding efforts in representing Cheltenham East Primary School at the City of Kingston Junior Mayor event yesterday.
The students worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event, dedicating significant time and effort to preparing and refining their speech. Their teamwork, commitment and willingness to step outside their comfort zones were wonderful to see.
All four students represented our school community with pride, confidence and professionalism. They spoke exceptionally well and demonstrated the leadership qualities that make them such positive role models for our students.
Curriculum Day May 18
We would like to remind families that Friday, 18 May, will be a Curriculum Day, with students not required to attend school on this day. Team Kids will be available for families requiring care on the day.
Throughout the Curriculum Day, staff will be working alongside our Student Support Services team as we continue to build our knowledge, understanding and practical skills in inclusive education and supporting the diverse needs of all students. Following the professional learning, our staff will be available for parent/carer-teacher interviews.
This professional learning will focus on strengthening staff capacity to provide inclusive, supportive and engaging learning environments where every student can experience success. Staff will continue developing strategies and approaches that support student wellbeing, participation, engagement and learning across all areas of the school.
At Cheltenham East Primary School, we remain committed to ongoing professional learning and continuous improvement to ensure we are providing the best possible outcomes for every student.
We thank families for their ongoing support of these important staff learning opportunities.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all families who have already booked a Parent Teacher Interview this term. These meetings are an important opportunity for parents and teachers to work together in supporting each child’s learning, wellbeing and growth at school.
Parent/carer and Teacher Interviews provide valuable time to celebrate student successes, discuss progress, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. We greatly value the ongoing communication and collaboration with our families, as working together plays an important role in achieving the best outcomes for our students.
If you have not yet booked an interview time, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Should you experience any difficulties accessing the booking system or finding a suitable time, please contact the school office, and we will be happy to assist.
Happy Mother's Day
As we head into the weekend, we would like to wish all of the mothers, grandmothers, carers, and special people in our students’ lives a very happy and relaxing Mother’s Day weekend.
We thank you for the care, encouragement, support and guidance you provide every day. The positive impact you have on the lives of our children and our wider school community is immeasurable. Your partnership, kindness and ongoing support play such an important role in helping our students grow into confident, resilient and caring young people.
We hope you enjoy a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate and spend time with those closest to you.
Have a wonderful weekend.
