Year 6 Excursion to Far Out Science

UNE Far Out Science- by Rose Wright
All the students and teachers woke up early and got ready to get on the bus heading off to UNE in Armidale. We all were very excited to learn about science, and before you know it we were already in Armidale trying to figure out where UNE was.
When we arrived there we got to get a muesli bar, water bottle and a popper. Then we made ourselves comfortable and sat down in this enormous stage, where many other schools were. When everyone was ready the leaders put us all into a group to go explore the amazing , ginormous school and also learn about science. The instructors led out to our first arrival which was at the Roaming Rodents.
We all sat down at a table and got into a group of three. In front of us there were lots of bits and pieces that we had to put together and make fun things for the RATS that were in their cages to play with. We were then walking towards Sherlock Discovers Chocolates and Oranges. When we were there we had to again get into a group of four and we had to discover which one was healthier- white chocolate or dark chocolate, and of course dark chocolate was way healthier.
When we left we all got a chocolate and ate it, it was delicious. Then we made our way to a nice spot to eat our lunch and some people played handball.
We then went to the real science (Chemistry Magic Show) where big explosions happened. When we were in there, there was another big stage and Will made things Bang! Crack! and even bubble up. It was so cool and fun to watch. Then our last destination was Coding! There was again another big stage and the person talked about how computers use coding. After that was finished the instructors gave us a sheet we had to feel out and answer all the questions and put it in the lucky dip, then we went back to where we were first where they did the lucky dip.
There were so many good prizes, the first prize was a phone and there was also a hat, bag, sleeping bag and many other amazing prizes that other people won. After all that was finished we got back on the bus to head home after a fun but exhausting long day. All the teachers and students had so much fun at Far Out Science and it was also such a fun experience to have.
