I would like to begin with a big thank you to our families, students and staff who helped tidy and prepare our school ahead of last Tuesday’s Cluster event. Your support made a real difference.
Cluster events are important to us. We are often the ones travelling to other schools, so it was an absolute pleasure to host our cluster schools here at Cowwarr PS for the first time.
We were proud to open our doors, showcase our school and welcome others into our space. It was a delight to host, and we look forward to many more opportunities to do so in the future.
A big thank you to the students who have put their names forward to represent Cowwarr PS at the upcoming Cluster Swimming Carnival. It takes courage to step up and have a go, and we are incredibly proud of you.
At Cowwarr, we don’t expect everyone to be champions, but we do expect everyone to show self-belief, determination and an “I can do it!” attitude. Representing your school is about effort, sportsmanship and trying your very best.
Well done and thank you to Julian, Hunter, Angus, Emma and Harley for showing confidence and pride in our school.
We’ll be cheering you on! 💛👏
On Tuesday, Miss Bortoletti and I will be attending the Area Principal Forum in Bairnsdale. These forums provide valuable opportunities to engage in professional learning, connect with other school leaders and continue refining best practice.
Improving student outcomes and driving positive change is always a team effort. I am excited to be working alongside Miss Bortoletti as we continue strengthening our practices and building the capacity of our Cowwarr TEAM.
Over the past few weeks, our staff have been working closely with students to complete assessment tasks in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. These assessments help us understand each child’s current strengths and areas for growth.
Over the last few years, we have placed a strong focus on both wellbeing and learning at Cowwarr PS. Building safe, supportive classrooms has been essential and now we are continuing that work while strengthening our focus on academic growth and achievement for every student.
This year, we have a strong and deliberate focus on improving student achievement and growth in Literacy across our school.
One of our key priorities is ensuring high-quality, consistent teaching in every classroom. This means students will experience clear learning intentions, explicit teaching, guided practice and opportunities to apply their learning independently. As a staff, we are working collaboratively to strengthen our shared instructional practices so that every student benefits from clarity, consistency and strong routines.
We are also placing a significant focus on how we use assessment information to guide our teaching. Through regular literacy assessments and ongoing team discussions, we are carefully analysing student progress, identifying students who may need additional support or extension, and monitoring growth closely over time.
Our goal is simple and important: To ensure every student demonstrates strong academic growth. By strengthening our teaching practices and using data thoughtfully and strategically, we are committed to supporting every learner to achieve their personal best.
