What a fantastic opportunity it was for our students to spend the day learning at Wurruk Primary School alongside other children their age.
Ā
Our class has been working hard on building strong learning habits, things like staying focused, trying our best and being proud of our work. It was wonderful for our students to see other children showing the same positive learning behaviours, concentrating for long periods of time and really engaging in their learning. It was inspiring and helped reinforce the importance of effort and persistence.
Ā
The day also gave our students the chance to build friendships with children they will see again at events such as swimming, athletics and school camps. Making these connections now helps students feel more confident and comfortable when we come together as a cluster.
Ā
We are very grateful for the experience and look forward to more opportunities like this in the future.

Ā
In Literacy, students have been focusing on building strong foundations for reading and writing.
Ā
We have been learning about the tools we need to be successful learners, including how to organise our materials, use them responsibly and get ourselves ready for learning independently.
Ā
Students have also explored why reading and writing matter. Weāve discussed the many reasons we read (for enjoyment, to learn new information and to follow instructions) and why we write (to share ideas, tell stories and communicate with others).
Ā
Another important focus has been caring for our book boxes and building reading stamina. Students are learning how to look after their books, stay engaged for longer periods of time and keep going even when reading feels challenging.
Ā
Itās wonderful to see our students developing independence, responsibility and confidence in their literacy learning.Ā
In Maths, students have been developing their understanding of place value, learning how numbers are made up of tens and ones.
Ā
They have practised bundling ones into groups of ten to make counting easier, representing numbers using materials and drawings, and reading numbers by identifying how many tens and ones they contain.
Ā
This learning helps build strong number knowledge and confidence when working with larger numbers. We are seeing great growth in studentsā understanding and ability to explain their thinking.Ā
In Wellbeing, students have been exploring emotions and learning how to recognise and express their feelings.
Ā
Students chose an emotion and drew a picture to show a situation where they might feel that way. They then shared their work with others to help build understanding and empathy.
Ā
This learning supports students to better understand themselves and others, and helps build a safe and supportive classroom community. š
As part of our SWPBS focus, students have been learning how our words and tone of voice show respect.
Ā
Using puppets and role-play scenarios, students explored how the same words can feel very different depending on how they are said. We discussed how a calm, kind tone helps solve problems, while an unkind tone can make small issues bigger.
Ā
Students practised āresettingā their tone in different situations; in the playground, during group work and when asking for help and reflected on how respectful communication supports learning and strengthens our TEAM culture.
Ā
It has been wonderful to see students thinking carefully about how they speak and how their words impact others.
