Learning & teaching Term 3 - Week 9
What’s been happening around the school:
As we reach the end of Term 3, it is hard to believe that there is only one term remaining in 2026. Looking back on the term, we have shared many memorable experiences, including Book Week dress-ups, excursions, incursions, and Athletics Day. Most importantly, there has been a great deal of learning.
Across all year levels, students have continued to strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, explore new concepts in science, develop positive social skills through RRRR, and deepen their understanding of faith through Religious Education. We are proud of the enthusiasm, growth, and achievements demonstrated by our students throughout the term.
The Foundation students enjoyed using scales in their Numeracy lessons focusing on Mass. They explored which items around the classroom were heavier or lighter.
In Year One, students have been learning about God’s creation and developing an understanding of how they can care for and respect all aspects of creation.
During Year Two science, students used their imagination to create new toys from recyclable materials to close off their unit, Taking Care of the Earth.
Year Three Students enthusiastically explored making 3D shapes using nets, learning about their faces, vertices and edges.
In Year Four, students have been focussed on perfecting their handwriting with the aim of receiving their pen licence.
During Year Five Science, students investigated the layers of the Earth and the atmosphere and demonstrated their learning by creating informative posters.
Taekwondo was a particular highlight for the Year Six students. Sammy Rachele put the students through their paces on the gym equipment and introduced them to training swords and nunchucks, making for an exciting and engaging martial arts experience.
Year Two Bendigo Discovery Centre
On Wednesday, September 3rd the Grade 2 students went on an excursion to the Bendigo Discovery Centre to complete some Hand-On Science activities. This was to complement our learning in our science unit being completed in Term 3. Students had a great time in the Planetarium exploring different planets, black holes, stars and the Milky Way. Afterwards we were able to explore different hands-on science activities in the Discovery Centre including marble runs, wind tunnels and the mirror maze. Finally, students had the opportunity to go on the second-biggest vertical slide in the Southern Hemisphere which was a lot of fun for everyone.

BOOK CLUB
REMINDER - Issue 7 catalogues will not be sent home next term due to the upcoming Book Fair, but families can still order online (delivery fee applies).
BOOK FAIR
Our Book Fair is coming up in Week 2 of Term 4 (12th-16th October), and we are still looking for volunteers to help the fair run smoothly.
The Book Fair will be open at the following times:
- Monday-Friday: 8:30am-9:00am
- Monday-Thursday: 3:25pm-4:00pm
If you are available to help supervise and assist customers during any of these times, we would greatly appreciate your support.

OVERDUE BOOKS
Please remind your child to return any overdue library books. Currently, we have a total of 109 books that are overdue, and some students are eager to borrow these titles. Your cooperation helps ensure everyone has access to the books they are excited to read.
BOOK WEEK
The Book week displays drew lots of attention last week in the library and the variety of costumes from classic characters to creative originals, it was truly impressive. Thankyou everyone!
