Allied Health Team

At Croydon SDS we are very lucky to have our very own school nurse, Helen. Helen visits students across the school to provide their medication (as documented by their doctor) and provide first aid where required.

Helen cares about ensuring students’ voices are heard and that they can express their health needs even if they have limited speech. She uses AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) resources such as first aid visuals, the PODD book and Zones of Regulation tools to help students express their feelings and health needs. Using these familiar communication systems reduces student distress during assessments, and increases accuracy in identifying health concerns.
