The Arts

Ms Monique McMullen - Head of Department The Arts

Over the last weekend of November two of our very talented musicians represented the school and our state at OSIC (Oz Schools Instrumental Championships) in Melbourne.

In the Secondary Senior Drumkit division, Jayden Fulwood played What About Me? A jazz fusion chart by Snarky Puppy. His understated style, musicianship and incredible technique were on show and wowed the audience in a really tough and varied field. Ultimately, the adjudicators favoured the more straightforward metal and rock performances and Jayden narrowly missed out on a podium place.

In the Secondary Senior Strings division, Isaac Pass played Julie-O by Mark Summer and won! Julie-O is an incredibly virtuosic piece with an improvisatory feel and Isaac played it with such musicality. He was in flow on stage and the joy of making music permeated every aspect of his performance.

Congratulations to Isaac on this massive achievement.

A huge thank you to Jayden and Isaac for representing our Music Program at the highest level - you both did us proud.

Thank you to both the Fulwood and Pass families for making the trip to Melbourne for this inaugural event. I was so happy to be there supporting the boys and celebrating their achievements with them.
