Mr James Gleeson- Deputy Principal

As we reach the end of another successful school year, it is a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on the achievements, growth, and school spirit that have defined our journey in 2025.

I would like to begin by extending my gratitude to all of our dedicated teachers. Their tireless commitment, creativity, and care have ensured that every student has been supported, challenged, and inspired.  Our teachers worked strongly together in their Time4 Teachers teams across the school year to develop learning experiences that fulfilled a dual purpose to be both academically rigorous and deeply engaging.  We thank the parents and carers for their ongoing support of the Time4 Teachers program, as we continue to reap the many rewards that arise through the provision of dedicated intentional collaboration time for our teaching staff.

Our Guidance Officers, Heads of Year, Teachers’ Aides and Specialist Staff have also worked hard to support and guide our students both individually and collectively.  They have collaborated effectively to deliver a seamless program of engaging well-being lessons, house activities, guest speakers and end of year events.  How wonderful it was in the closing weeks of the school year to see our students and staff enjoying themselves and their time together during activities such as the Year 7 obstacle course, bouldering, e-sports, Wet and Wild, and of course the Year 9 boat cruise, which gave our students an opportunity to celebrate the end of the Junior Secondary phase of learning at our fantastic school.  We extend our gratitude to our wonderful students for their exemplary behaviour and enthusiastic engagement with these activities that celebrated the many successes of 2025.  Your embodiment of our school values: Thinking Big, Stepping Up, Paying it Forward and Being Kind, has been evident across the year and especially visible in the way you have carried yourself so purposefully through to the end in these last few weeks of school.

2025 has been a year filled with accomplishments. Whether through academic excellence, sporting achievements, artistic expression, or through the many small moments where our empathy, engagement and gratitude shine through, we have continued to build our positive school culture together.

Finally, I also wish to thank our incredible P&C and all our parents and carers for partnering with us in the care, support and growth of your young learners.  You have once again been central to our success. The many ways you support the staff and students of our school are deeply appreciated and respected.  From helping with homework, supporting our staff and students at events, volunteering your time, or simply being present with kind words or a patient ear, your contributions have strengthened the bonds of our community and helped us all to grow through another very successful year at The Gap State High School.
