Welcome to our final Wellbeing Hub #2 newsletter article for this academic year. As we come to the end of another very busy term, we acknowledge that for some of our students and families there have been some significant challenges over the course of the year. The holiday period can be a time of joy and celebration for some, but for others, it can be stressful and isolating, even amplifying mental health challenges.
We hope that through the use of this article, our school website and School TV you are equipped with resources for all of your safeguarding and support needs over the school holidays.
At this time of year, we would like to remind you about the very informative Beyond Blue and headspace websites which provide several resources for parents and carers of young people. There are some excellent articles on anxiety, resilience in children and the importance of boundaries.
The graphic below will also provide you with a number of valuable websites and phone numbers should there be a need for support over the summer holidays:

It is incredibly important that students continue to practice self-care over the summer holiday. Please encourage the young people in your care to do so with the below tips over the coming weeks:
| Self-Care Summer for Secondary Students | ||
Week 1 Relationships and Connection
Spending time with trusted people like friends and family is important for your wellbeing. We all need someone we can turn to. | Week 2 Play and entertainment
Playing helps you to explore your thoughts and emotions, escape from reality or to simply have fun. | Week 3 Relaxation
We can often find ourselves busy with plans but remember its OK to pause, take time for yourself, see a movie, read a book, relax and recharge.
|
Week 4 Physical Activity
Keeping active can positively impact your mood and wellbeing. Do it your way; dance, walk, go to the gym or play a sport.
| Week 5 Creativity
Finding ways to be creative can be an opportunity to express yourself and focus on the present moment. This could be through acting, cooking, drawing or writing. | Week 6 Emotional Health
Be kind to yourself, whatever this might look like. It’s not easy but it is important for your own wellbeing. Do whatever makes you feel good! |
