Congratulations to Thomas Bellis on his selection in the Victorian Inline Hockey Team.

Thomas's achievement is particularly impressive given that he only began skating in January this year. He earned his place after attending a two-day state training camp, where the top 12 players from across Victoria were selected for the team.

Training has commenced and will continue weekly to mid-September, with sessions held in Melbourne, Lilydale and Moe. Thomas and his family have plenty of travel ahead as they prepare for the national championships in Queensland at the end of September.

We congratulate Thomas on his hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievement, and wish him all the best as he represents Victoria later this year.

Congratulations Spencer Price (8 Millward)!

Spencer Price is off to Sydney to once again represent Victoria at the Australian Gymnastics Championships. He recently competed at the Victorian State Championships where he placed first in level 7 (Open) Tumbling. Spencer has training and the State Recognition day in Melbourne this weekend. Go Spencer!!

Congratulations to Lucia Fodor, named BASL (Bendigo Amateur Soccer League) Junior Volunteer of the Year during Female Football Week.

Nominated by Strathdale Soccer Club, Lucia has grown from a MiniRoos player into a terrific young leader, coaching an all-girls team, refereeing junior games and helping wherever she's needed.

Passionate about making football welcoming for young girls, she's helping build a lasting pathway for female players. A wonderful, well-deserved honour.

We're proud of you, Lucia!

Azia Fong-Sutton (10 Aherne) selected for Victorian State Marlin Swimming Squad and Tri-Series

Azia Fong-Sutton has been selected for the prestigious Victorian State Marlin Swimming Squad, following her performances at the Australian Age Championships on the Gold Coast in April.

Membership in this elite squad offers invaluable development opportunities, the first of which saw Azia compete at the Commonwealth Games Trials in Sydney last weekend. On Saturday 13 June, Azia raced in the 50m Freestyle across eight highly competitive heats. It was an incredible milestone as she continues her transition into senior-level competition, highlighted by the unique privilege of warming upside-by-side in the lanes with Australia's Olympians.

Azia is already training hard for her next major honour, having been selected to represent Victoria at the upcoming Tri-Series. She will travel to Karratha during the July school holidays with the Victorian Swimming Squad to compete against top swimmers from Western Australia and New Zealand. We wish her and the Victorian team the very best!

Henry Allan (12 Jones) is off to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland!

Girton student Henry Allan is off to the Commonwealth Games. At the Australian Swimming Trials in Sydney this month, Henry won the men's 100-metre backstroke and earned a place in the Australian Dolphins team for Glasgow 2026 (23 July – 2 August). At 17, he is one of the youngest in the squad.

It caps a stellar few months. At April's Australian Age Championships, Henry broke long-standing national records across the 50, 100 and 200-metre backstroke, and has since climbed into the world's top rankings. His success reflects years of dedicated work with the Bendigo East Swimming Club.

We could not be prouder, and the Girton community will be cheering Henry on in Glasgow!
