Alexandra Thoms (’18) was a St Catherine’s Old Girl who tragically lost her life to an undiagnosed cardiomyopathy at just 23 years of age.
Alexandra’s Mission was founded in her loving memory by her family and the close friends she met at St Catherine’s School. The charity works to prevent Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) in young people through education, awareness and fundraising for cardiac research.
Alexandra’s Mission will be hosting the 7 for 7 Walk, walking 7km each day for 7 days, to honour the 7 young lives lost to sudden cardiac death in Australia every week. Walks will take place daily from Sunday 22 March to Saturday 28 March. We would especially love to see members of the St Catherine’s community join us on Thursday 26 March at 6.30pm at the Tan, an evening dedicated to Alex’s connection to the School and raising awareness of sudden cardiac death in the young.
We invite everyone to join us, whether you choose to walk, run or ride, to come together, honour Alex’s memory and spread awareness about heart health in young people. You can also support the work of Alexandra’s Mission by following our social media channel (@alexandrasmission) to stay up to date with events, education and ongoing fundraising initiatives.
