Our Vision for 2026: Many Voices, Better Choices
As Junior School Captains, we, Frankie and Willow, along with our Vice Captain Isla, are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Junior School in 2026. While we will continue to uphold important values such as respecting others, caring for our environment and showing good sportsmanship, we also want to introduce new and exciting ideas that give every student a voice.
Our theme, 'Many Voices, Better Choices,' reflects our belief that the best ideas come from all of us working together. You will start seeing Tentacle Tim, our octopus mascot, around the school as a reminder that great thinking happens when many minds combine, just like an octopus with nine brains.
This year, we are launching several student-led initiatives designed to make our school an even better place. One of our projects is the Clean Up Clayfield Race, a twice-a-term challenge where students within a year level, compete to fill bags with rubbish and earn small prizes. We are also excited to introduce a ‘Sportsperson of the Term’ award that will be voted on entirely by students. Students will be able to nominate peers who show fairness, respect and inclusiveness at morning tea and lunchtime. To bring more fun to lunchtime, every second Friday in Term 2 (and beyond) we will run oval games led by Year 6 students with activities such as soccer, tag, dodgeball and more.
Finally, we are proud to be launching the Digital Student Collegian, an online magazine created completely by students. This will be a space where you can share your artwork, writing, achievements and favourite memories from the year, because your voices deserve to be celebrated. Please keep an eye out for information about how to submit your contributions.
As we lead this year, we want you to remember that every student brings something unique to Clayfield. We promise to listen, to lead with kindness and enthusiasm and to make sure your ideas help shape our school in the best ways possible.
