Term 2 Update
It has been a busy and productive time in Blue Class, with students demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience, and a strong commitment to their learning across all key areas.
English
Students have been developing their writing skills through recounts and narrative tasks, with a focus on structuring ideas clearly and using engaging language. In spelling, we have been working on applying specific rules (such as suffixes and doubling consonants), alongside daily activities including word sorting, dictionary work, and creative writing. Reading continues to be a priority, with students participating in independent reading, comprehension tasks, and using platforms such as Reading Eggs to strengthen fluency and understanding.
Mathematics
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of place value, particularly with larger numbers. Students have been ordering, partitioning, regrouping, and renaming numbers, as well as exploring how numbers change when multiplied by 10, 100, and 1000. We have also been revising rounding strategies and applying them to real-world contexts. Hands-on activities, games, and problem-solving tasks have supported students to deepen their understanding.
Science
Our Science unit has focused on energy, where students have explored different forms of energy and how energy can be transferred and transformed. They have engaged in discussions, simple experiments, and investigations to build their scientific thinking and inquiry skills.
HSIE / Geography
Students have been learning about our neighbours in Asia and Oceania, exploring countries, cultures, and key features of the regions. They have shown curiosity in researching different places and comparing them to life in Australia.
Creative Arts
Blue Class has continued to showcase their creativity through art projects, including work prepared for displays and exhibitions. Students have experimented with different techniques and materials, demonstrating great effort and pride in their work.
General Classroom Focus
We have also been working on collaboration, respectful communication, and independence in learning. It has been pleasing to see students supporting one another and taking responsibility for their work.
Riddle of the Week 🤔
I have keys but no locks,
I have space but no room,
You can enter, but you can’t go outside.
What am I?
Homework – Family Tasks
Please complete these tasks together at home:
Maths in Real Life
Find a large number (e.g. population, distance, or money). Ask your child to explain how to partition it and what happens if you multiply it by 10 or 100.
Reading Together
Read for at least 15 minutes with a family member. Discuss the main idea and one interesting word you learned.
Family Interview Writing Task
Interview a family member about a memorable holiday or event. Write a short recount using a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Thank you for your continued support. Blue Class continues to work hard and strive for success across all areas of learning. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to get in touch.
