Classroom Learning Update – Term 2
This term is set to be another exciting chapter in our learning journey! In English, students will continue to expand their knowledge and use of sounds to broaden their reading and spelling skills. We’ll be working on strategies that help us grow as confident readers and writers.
In Mathematics, we’ll focus on developing number and place value skills. Students will learn and practice various strategies for adding and subtracting, and explore different ways to form groups and apply multiplication facts in their problem-solving.
Our Science unit will see students investigating everyday materials and how they can be physically changed in a variety of ways. Through hands-on experiments and observations, we’ll make predictions and comparisons about how the shapes of objects made from different materials can be changed by actions such as bending, stretching, and twisting. We’ll also explore how materials respond to heating and cooling.
Continuing from last term, students will build on their Geography unit, deepening their understanding of the world around them.
Excitingly, soon we will begin learning our class dance, which will be performed later this term as part of Shine. I encourage students to practice the dance steps at home once we begin—they always impress us with their creativity and enthusiasm! I can’t wait to see them all shine on stage.
As always, I look forward to the many engaging and exciting learning experiences this term brings.
