It has been a positive and settled start to the term, with students demonstrating strong engagement across all learning areas. Students are continuing to build on their knowledge and skills, with a clear focus on developing confidence, independence and a strong work ethic in the classroom. We look forward to a productive term of learning, growth and achievement.
In English, students have been engaging deeply with the text Kicking Goals with Goodesy and Magic by Anita Heiss. Through close reading and discussion, they have explored the difference between topics and themes, and analysed how authors structure texts and use language features to shape meaning.
Students have also examined the perspectives of Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin, developing a deeper understanding of how authors communicate ideas with purpose and authority.
In writing, students are strengthening their skills by creating compound and complex sentences, using modal language effectively, and composing personal responses focused on success and goal setting. These learning experiences are supporting students to develop clarity, depth and confidence in their written expression.

Over the past two weeks, students have been developing their understanding of place value, number patterns and data representation. They have been reading, writing and ordering numbers, continuing counting patterns, and identifying rules within number sequences.
Students have also collected and represented data using tallies and simple graphs. Stage 3 students have extended their learning by working with larger numbers, more complex patterns and deeper interpretation of data sets.
On Friday, Stage 2 and Stage 3 students in the Green classroom participated in a hands-on STEM challenge using only scrap paper. Students demonstrated creativity and innovation through a range of thoughtful designs, with each group engaging in careful planning and problem-solving.
It was particularly pleasing to see students testing, refining and improving their ideas through trial and error. The task provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration, resilience and critical thinking skills in a practical and engaging context.
