In Times of uncertainty God Will Give us Strength
This week, our Gospel reading (Luke 21:5–19) invites us to reflect on Jesus’ words about change, challenge, and trust. The disciples are admiring the beauty of the Temple, but Jesus reminds them that even the most impressive and solid things in our lives will not last forever. Instead, He calls His followers to place their confidence not in buildings or earthly security, but in God’s enduring love.
Jesus speaks honestly about the difficulties His followers may face, yet He offers a powerful reassurance: “I myself will give you words and wisdom.” What a comforting promise, that in moments of uncertainty, God is with us, guiding, strengthening, and helping us to stand firm.
As a school community, we know that children learn most deeply when they feel safe, supported, and loved. This Gospel reminds us that even when life feels unsettled, we can anchor ourselves in faith, hope, and the presence of Christ who walks with us.
Here are some wonderings you might like to share with your children at home:
- I wonder how the disciples felt when Jesus told them that the Temple would fall?
- I wonder what helps us feel safe and peaceful when things around us are changing?
- I wonder how we can help others feel God’s love and strength when they are worried?
I wonder what Jesus means when He says He will give us “words and wisdom”?
May this Gospel encourage us all to trust in God’s steady presence, to support one another through challenges, and to help our children grow in resilience and faith.
