Class Novel - His name was Walter

We have been reading this really mysterious book this term. It guides us in developing our own narrative skills.  Below are some of the strong sentences we are trying to write.

After, Lucas pulled Anna-Beth into the bush with a smile on his face.  Fern bursts out laughing uncontrollably, “Hahahaha, wait, it’s getting dark and we need food for dinner, I’m STARVING!”.   Lacey

At night, Gojo and Yuji were walking around and trying to break open a vending machine until they saw purple smoke, but then they saw a curse. So Gojo sent Yuji to kill it so it didn't murder other people, so Yuji jumped through the window and landed right on the creature's head, and it exploded. And goo went everywhere.  Quinn

Oli and Josh were riding their skateboards in the dense forest and then they found an abandoned skatepark in a massive warehouse.  Noah

Orienteering

A few extra thoughts on our experience.

"At Maroondah Dam, we had to catch the bus to Maroondah Dam. It was on a Friday on the 24th of October I was a partner with Lacey we got 12 out of 17 and I saw kangaroo’s. There were more than 20 kangaroos so we took 84 minutes because we got lost but then we saw Mr Foley.   Joe, Zac, Jayden, Noah, Parker V, Kade and Lacey found a snake and Mr Foley came over but the snake was sleeping." Maddi

"3/4/5/6  caught the bus at 9:00am.  We got there at 10:00 am. It was at Maroondah Dam, Healesville. We got there and we had fruit snack and Mr Deviser told us how to do orienteering and he called numbers for mine, I was 6min and I had a partner it was Liliana and Henry and Blake were partners but we had the same sheet so we helped them and they help us but me and blake wanted to sit so we sat on the side of the rode but Liliana and Henry ran off and me and Blake never noticed that they ran off. I didn’t have the map, so I was Dora the Explorer.😂"  Marlee

"It is a game/competition where you run either in singles or pairs and you have a map and you try to find the correct flags with the right number on it and stamp it on your paper card. If you want you can just talk with your friends or take it seriously.

I took it seriously because I was trying hard.

I got all of them correct(17/17) and I finished in 57.55 minutes.

I came on the leaderboard, I don't know which place I came though and won out of the grade 5 girls(singles)."  Amelia

"You go around finding boxes with stamps attached to a rope and stamp the piece of paper. We got off the bus and ate our food. Then, for the next 30 minutes, we listened to the rules and stuff, then we took off. I wasn't really paying attention, but anyway, we started, and I found the first few pretty easily, but once I got up to number 9, I couldn't find it for like 30 minutes, so I really thought I would be behind by a lot. After a while, some kids helped me and I eventually found it. I got the next few and then I had 1 left. After a while, I got it, and we were now at the awards. My friends from my school got some good records but then it was grade 4 solos. And I got the grade 4 boys champion!"  Samson

Swimming

What we thought about swimming.

"At school, we did swimming for 2 weeks. I was in the top group.  We got 45 minutes to swim.  Firstly we just did freestyle and backstroke after that we would swim to the other side and jump in."  Zac

"From October 20th to 30th was St Joseph’s Primary School‘s Swimming Week. First to do it was the  3/4, where we had a lot of fun. Once it was the funday, we went on the obstacle course."  Archer

"For the last two weeks the school have been swimming. On the first day we got sorted into levels there were four levels I was in level three. By the end I could swim a little better." Henry
