Term 3 at a glance…
Below is an overview of the units each secondary class will complete during term 3. Plenty of fun, new skills and movement to be had!
Year 7
Athletics: Year 7 students are being introduced to their throwing events (javelin, discus, shotput), jumping events (long jump, triple jump, high jump), and running events (various distances). For year 7 students, there are a number of new events in comparison to primary athletics, so the assessment task is focussed on technique development.
Relationships and Bullying: This unit unpacks different relationships, the impacts of bullying and positive communication.
Design your own game unit: Year 7 students have the opportunity to design their own game and present it to their classmates. This unit focuses on modifications for inclusion, safety and enjoyment.
Year 8
Athletics: During this unit we will refine our technique to help with athletics day in week 3. Students will work on their throwing, jumping and running events. The assessment task for this will see students have to teach some of these events to their peers.
Relationships and Sexuality: This unit focus on positive relationships, understanding changes that occur through adolescents and accepting others. Students will have a Pre & Post test to demonstrate growth of knowledge in these areas.
SEPEP Unit: Year 8 students will have the opportunity to run and participate in their own sporting tournament, taking on roles such as coaching, umpiring, scorekeeping, promoting the tournament. Assessment will be made from student participation and completion of their role.
Year 9
Peer Coaching: Students have been exploring invasion games for this unit. Now they are tasked with working as a small team to ‘coach’ an invasion game of their choice to the class. Students have been planning a lesson with a warmup and cool down as part of their assessment task.
Nutrition Unit: Year 9 students will explore the energy provided from different sources – carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Students will cook meals in the kitchen and using the Trangia, helping prepare for our end of year adventure journey.
Year 10
Athletics: Students are preparing for the athletics by practicing their throwing, jumping and running events. For their assessment task, Year 10’s have been using digital technologies to film themselves performing events, then analysing the footage to make improvements.
Sexual Health Unit: During this unit, students gain understanding of contraceptive methods and sexually transmitted infections to benefit future outcomes. The assessment task for this unit sees students get creative, designing their own boardgame to demonstrate knowledge.
SEPEP Unit: Year 10 students will have the opportunity to run and participate in their own sporting tournament, taking on roles such as coaching, umpiring, scorekeeping, promoting the tournament. Assessment will be made from student participation and completion of their role.

Ansett and Jacka are competing for the Drew Ritchie Memorial Shield (Primary) and the Secondary Cup.
Our school community are all encouraged to come along, support and participate in the day. We look forward to hopefully seeing a parent/carer relay team.
