Enhancing Our Reporting Process

During 2025 - 2026, we are excited to embark on enhancing our student reporting processes to provide more frequent updates with greater clarity and a stronger focus on student learning and application. These improvements will ensure that parents have more opportunities to engage with their daughter’s academic progress and work in partnership with the College to support her learning journey.

By increasing the frequency and depth of reporting, we aim to offer timely insights into each student’s achievements, areas for growth, and overall engagement with their studies. This refined approach will not only provide a clearer picture of student progress but also allow for earlier interventions and more meaningful discussions between parents, students, and teachers.

We strongly believe that learning is most successful when there is a strong partnership between home and school. With these changes, we hope to foster deeper connections and collaboration, ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive.

The first adjustments in 2025 will take place with our Year 11 reports and will continue for each year group thereafter. Parents and students will notice that the ‘Personal Profile’ will no longer be and in its place staff will be reporting on ‘Student Learning Performance’ (SLP’s) (please see below for further details) which allows for a broader range of areas to report. Further to this, as we move into 2026 there will be other physical changes that will occur to the layout, again to allow for a greater depth and understanding of your daughter's learning journey. Student Learning Performance 2025

Introduction

There are four areas of a student's capability that we aspire all Chisholm graduates to demonstrate: Organisation and management for learning in the classroom, Personal learning behaviours, Attitude to learning & Social and Learning relationships. The Student Learning Performance (SLP) reports on these 4 performance areas. During Term 1 and Term 3 the SLP is provided as an interim report to allow for students and parents to gain insight into how application to learning is developing. In Term 2 and Term 4 the SLP will appear on the formal reports as the students' learning performance. The SLP will report on the whole term and every available lesson timetabled for the student. Ultimately, it is imperative that we encourage all students to engage fully in their learning by attending school everyday.

At Caroline Chisholm we believe that every student is entitled to an excellent education where our community of learners support one another to develop in ALL dimensions: spiritual, academic, social, physical, emotional and creative areas. Enabling student success and the ability to achieve aspirations and continuously grow as a learner critical to future success.

All teachers will observe learning and report these areas. The 4 key areas of the Student Learning Performance (SLP) are outlined below. Students will be given a mark out of 5 for each area and the total in each subject will be their SLP mark out of 20. This kind of scale requires professional teacher judgement and can also be a tool for student self assessment.

Any student who achieves a total of 17 or above across all their subjects will receive an Outstanding Student Learning Performance Award for the term.

Any student who achieves a total average of 8 points or below will be expected to engage in a learning conversation with their teacher and parent/guardian to discuss strategies and support needed for improvement.

Performance Areas

Each performance area has a number of criteria that specifies student achievement within this area:

1. Organisation and management of learning in the classroom

Arrives to class on time
Brings all specific KLA equipment and resources for every lesson
Laptop that is sufficiently charged and in working order
Completes all Learning Preparation to enhance knowledge, learning and skills

2. Personal learning behaviours

Sustains a learning focus
Actively and respectfully listens to others
Completes all learning and assessment tasks to the best of your ability
Asks relevant and appropriate questions in respect of learning
Respectfully follows and responds appropriately to all instructions
Sets and works diligently towards achieving personal learning goals
Reflects on feedback and applies it to future learning

3. Attitude to learning

Determination to learn new skills and deepen knowledge
Demonstrates an attitude of willingness and perseverance towards learning
Committed to working through challenge/s to achieve growth
Approaches learning with a positive growth mindset
Shows commitment, dedication and effort in completing learning and assessment tasks
Demonstrates a desire to grow and seeks feedback as a learner

4. Social and Learning relationships

Shows respect, acceptance, encouragement and empathy for class peers
Collaborates and cooperates with teachers and students during learning experiences
Contributes positively to classroom learning activities, both independent and group tasks.
Communicates effectively and respectfully with others to promote a strong learning culture
Engages and is focused during independent tasks to respect the learning of self and others

Exciting Changes to Our Student Awards in 2025

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about our student awards program! In 2025, we have reworked our awards structure to better recognize and celebrate the diverse achievements of our students. This new approach will provide additional opportunities for students to strive towards excellence in all areas of learning, growth and participation in College life.

After reviewing our previous awards system, we recognized that it did not fully capture student growth, attendance, and engagement within our school community. With this renewed simplified structure, we aim to highlight and reward students for their academics along with their dedication, effort, and contributions beyond academics.

Our goal is to create an inclusive and meaningful recognition system that encourages all students to set goals, stay engaged, and feel valued for their hard work. We have included a screenshot below of all the awards that will be issued from 2025 onwards. From 2026 onwards the award information will be included in the College Diary for future reference.

Our students will be introduced to our new award system in the coming weeks, and thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a positive and rewarding school environment.
