Year 7 Feature

Year 7 students have started their Chisholm journey with confidence and embracing all the different expectations of Secondary school, gaining new understanding each day. True to the motto set before them, “Let the Journey begin” all students started with being introduced to their Homeroom Teachers and Support staff in the Year Assembly on their first day at the College.
The College Wellbeing goal is ‘To build students’ Inclusivity and Connectedness’. Students were introduced to Homeroom procedures and engaged in activities to build inclusivity and connectedness. The ‘clock buddy’ system was introduced in Homeroom to allow students to build connections with other students in their Homeroom. Whole school agreed practices, uniform expectations and instructions on navigating around the school were given in the Year Assembly during Week 1.
‘IT Bootcamp’ in Week 1, set up on ‘Canvas’ the learning platform of the College to provide learning for students on how to navigate through CCC learning portal, wifi connectivity and Canvas courses.
Year 7 students engaged in Thursday afternoon sport, wearing their Sports uniform. Teachers have provided great feedback about your daughters engagement and participation at Sport.
Classroom teachers have set high expectations for their students and Year 7 have indeed followed and listened to their teachers in their first few weeks at the College. To support smooth transition into High school an incursion “Big fish into little fish” incursion was organised by the Leader of Wellbeing Mrs Sonya Peters. The workshop focussed on . . .
The College Learning Goal is “To improve student learning outcomes in each Key Learning Area”. Students are encouraged to come prepared in all aspects for their learning each day at Chisholm! This will involve the following:
- Checking the Timetable and packing their school bags
- Bringing their College Diary each day and using it as an organisational tool
- Bringing a charged laptop each day
- Wearing the College uniform correctly
- Meeting the expectations of uniform/jewellery
- Bringing appropriate equipment for different subjects ( eg. sports gear/safety goggles)
Parents/carers are encouraged to ensure that your daughter is prepared each day to achieve the best possible outcomes with her learning and wellbeing. Your daughters Homeroom Teacher will be the first point of contact each day. Any notes to teachers can be written in the College Diary, to be signed by the Homeroom Year Leader/Assistant Year Leader.
Please check Compass, School documentation for procedures regarding any planned leave requests.
The Faith and Mission Goal of the College is “To improve theological understanding by engaging with Scripture through encountering Jesus and formation experiences”. Students start the day with Prayer in Homeroom and will be engaging in social justice initiatives and Reflection days and other fundraiser activities throughout the year. The College focus for this year is the value of ‘Compassion’. Religious Education lessons, The College Opening Mass and Caroline Chisholm Day celebrations are days where the faith life of the College is enriched.
On behalf of Mrs Hankin (Assistant Leader) and the Year 7 Pastoral Care Team, I wish your daughters and your families the very best and looking forward to working in partnership to support your daughters’ faith and learning journey at Caroline Chisholm College.
