Music

Music lessons for the 5/6s continue to be very quiet, with each student busily engaged in their digital music creation- headphones on! We have explored the musical elements from a digital perspective and have now moved on to creating our own composition in Chrome Music Lab. Our focus today was to refine a beat into two contrasting sections, an A and a B that can loop.

The 2/3/4 class are making excellent progress on their ukuleles. We can now play 3 chords! I am very excited to put their skills to use in playing our new song, 'The Seeds that Grow,' Eva Popov. This piece was a part of the Nalderun Song Project and the themes tie in with our other subject areas across the school. As the lyrics ponder what our country around Leanganok was like 'before the roads and all the gold,' I have been inviting the children to do the same.

Our F/1s always bounce in, ready to enjoy singing and moving! We have been keeping with a regular mix of new and familiar songs. Today the claves and scarves were our helpers as we kept the beat and responded to the music.

Radetzky's March (Strauss) was a helpful prompt as we revised our knowledge of crotchets and quavers and then moved onto dynamics- forte (loud) and piano (soft).
