Health & PE

It has been another fun and active fortnight in Health and Physical Education!
Students across the school have been enjoying picking up the skipping ropes and mastering their skills as well as having fun playing a new warm up game called “jump in, jump out!” Our Grade F-3 students have been continuing to enjoy practising their dance routines in preparation for their next class assemblies – stay tuned!
In Health, students have continued exploring our Personal Safety and Help-Seeking unit through engaging class discussions. We have been exploring body autonomy, consent, and how to respectfully give, deny and seek permission in a range of everyday situations as well as safe and unsafe feelings and seeking help when needed from trusted adults.
All students across each grade have continued developing their striking skills through the game of cricket. While they practise their batting, throwing, catching and running, our students are also building teamwork, communication and resilience in a fun and supportive environment.
We will continue to focus on skipping skills along with striking skill development this term through the games of cricket and tennis, before we finish the term with a focus on athletics. Our annual athletics school sports day will be held early in Term 4 – stay tuned for further details!
Looking ahead, our Grade 3–6 students will have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming District Cricket and Tennis Day on Friday 4th September. This will be held at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve and Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club. Grade 5/6 students have selected the sport they would like to represent the school in on this day and have been enjoying practising and further developing their skills on Tuesday afternoons. Our Grade 3/4 students will participate in clinics focused on participation and skill development in these two sports.
Please complete the permission form that will be sent out via PAM to ensure your child can participate!
