Year 11 VET Sport and Recreation - Point Addis Hike

 

On the 30th July our Year 11 VET Sport and Recreation students embarked on a hike around Point Addis. They relished the gorgeous afternoon while putting their first aid knowledge to the test, specifically in handling snake bites.

 


Year 12 VET Sport & Recreation Snow Camp 

 

 

On the 13th August our Year 12 Sport and Recreation students had the opportunity to attend a 3 night snow camp to Mount Buller where they spent two massive days on the mountain. 

 

All students showed excellent progression with snowboarding and skiing in some beautiful spring like conditions, riding first to last chairlifts, with lots of smiles, good vibes and sore legs! 

 

 


Year 9 Outdoor Education - Rock Climbing

 

Outdoor Education (ODE) at Surf Coast Secondary College offers a range of practical activities as part of the program, which support student to build their teamwork, communication, initiative and problem solving skills. 

 

On 5th August our Year 9 ODE spent the morning testing their skills at The Rock Adventure Centre in Newton. It was great to see the students amazing team working skills on display. 

 

 


VCE Psychology 

 

 

 

On the 15th August our VCE psychology classes hosted Xavier from CTRL Your Scroll. 

Ctrl Your Scroll  raises awareness of phone addiction and shares healthy habits to empower individuals to manage their phone usage. 

 

For our psychology students this linked to their studies of Unit 4 AOS 1 Sleep and the importance of sleep hyenine as well as their new unit on maintaining mental health. 

 

 

 


Tribe of Mentors Program 

 

Thank you so much Gwyn and Leon for delivering the amazing CPB & Defib training to the Surf Coast Secondary School Vocational Major students, you guys nailed it as did the students with their participation!

 

Gwyn and Leon from Community First Responders Australia donated $950.00 of free training with the remainder covered by the Surf Coast Shire Council Community Initiative and Quick Response Grants DIIGG Wellbeing LTD received, which is greatly appreciated by SCSC and Vocational Major students.

 

Our Tribe of Mentors Program now has a growing number of Community First responders!
