Year 1 & 2 Inquiry

Through Generations Incursion

A part of our inquiry unit ‘Through Generations’ Students in Grades 1 and 2 had a wonderful opportunity to step back in time during an engaging history incursion with Rosie. Rosie brought along a fantastic collection of old and interesting items from the past, giving students the opportunity to see and explore how everyday life has changed over time.

The collection included old briefcases that were once used as school bags, an old cage that was used as a fridge, and a variety of games and toys that Rosie played with when she was younger. Students were fascinated by the objects and were highly engaged throughout the incursion, asking lots of thoughtful questions and sharing their own ideas and observations.

As a special keepsake, Rosie kindly gifted every student a 1-cent and 2-cent coin from the past. This was a lovely way for students to take home a small piece of history and helped make the experience memorable.

The incursion was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that encouraged students to compare life in the past with life today and develop their understanding of how objects, technology, school and everyday life have changed over time.
