A huge finish to Winter Sport!

It has been an incredible few weeks for Kilvington Sport, with some outstanding performances across our Senior, Year 7 and Junior School teams.

Senior Girls AFL Make History

Our Senior Girls AFL team made history on Thursday 27 August, competing at the Herald Sun Shield for the first time. Taking on some of the best school football teams from across Victoria, the girls faced three tough matches, going down to Salesian before bouncing back with impressive wins over OLMC (22–15) and Loyola (9–5).

With two wins from three games, Kilvington finished equal first on the table, narrowly missing out on a place in the State Final on percentage. While there was some disappointment, the girls should be incredibly proud of what they achieved. They showed resilience, determination and plenty of Kilvo spirit on the big stage. A fantastic achievement in our first ever Herald Sun Shield appearance!

Senior Grand Final Success

The success continued with three Senior teams competing in Grand Finals, with Boys A Netball, Girls B Volleyball and Senior Girls AFL all coming away with Premierships! 

Congratulations to all players and coaches, and a special thank you to the students and staff who braved the cold and rain to cheer our teams on at EE Gunn. The support from our Years 7–12 students created an incredible atmosphere and was a fantastic example of what school sport is all about.

Year 7 Grand Final Success

Our Year 7 teams also enjoyed Grand Final success on Monday 31 August, with three of our four teams taking home the win.

Congratulations to our Girls Volleyball, Boys Volleyball and Girls AFL teams; a fantastic result and a great reward for their efforts throughout the season!

EISM Cross Country

Kilvington had more than 80 students representing the school across all year levels at the EISM Cross Country, with our students competing strongly and supporting each other throughout the day. Kilvington finished 2nd overall in Division 2, just 10 points behind first place, while our Girls team finished 1st. A huge congratulations to our individual placegetters:

The early morning training sessions with Coach Max Johnstone and Miss McLaren clearly paid off, with some outstanding performances across the course. Thank you to all 80+ students who represented Kilvington, and to Coach Max and Miss McLaren for their commitment to the Cross Country squad. The results are a great reflection of the work that has gone in behind the scenes.

Junior School Athletics Success

On Wednesday 26 August, 70 Kilvington students from Years 3–6 proudly represented the school at the Balaclava District Athletics Carnival. Our students demonstrated great sportsmanship, determination and team spirit throughout the day, with Kilvington finishing 2nd overall in the Small Schools competition, a first for the Junior School in Athletics.

Three students have also qualified for the next stage of competition at the Beachside Division Athletics Championships in October:

• Victoria Ransom (Year 6) – Discus
• Tomas Volpe (Year 6) – 100m and 200m Sprint

• Ralph Hopkins (Year 4) – 200m and 800m

   

Congratulations to all students and staff who contributed to this fantastic result. It was a great day of athletics, teamwork and school spirit, and we are incredibly proud of everyone's efforts.

Years 5–6 Hockey Champions

Our Years 5-6 mixed hockey team competed at the Southern Metro Region Finals of School Sport Victoria, securing the Southern Metro Region Champions title and a place at the School Sport Victoria State Finals next month. The team went undefeated across the day, opening with a 7–0 victory before securing 2–1 and 1–0 wins in their remaining matches.

It was a fantastic result for our students and a wonderful reward for the effort, teamwork and commitment they have shown throughout the season. Congratulations to every member of the team, and thank you to the parents, friends and supporters who have cheered them on along the way.
