that we Dear Parents and Carers,
There are now only days to go!! We’re so excited to invite you on a magical trip to Neverland as St Finbar’s Primary School proudly presents Peter Pan at Kingston City Hall.
We had our dress rehearsal today in the hall, and I have to say, I was absolutely blown away. The students were fantastic, and everything came together so well. They are more than ready for next week’s big performances! I’ve included a few photos from the rehearsal so you can get a little behind-the-scenes look at what’s in store on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A big thank you to our amazing staff and wonderful parents, your support, energy and encouragement make opportunities like this possible and give our students the confidence to shine. A special shout-out to our fabulous Production Director, Nonie Kay, who has done such a brilliant job preparing the students and running today’s rehearsal so smoothly.
We can’t wait to see you at Kingston City Hall for a fun, magical night full of wonder and joy!

At St. Finbar’s, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. Tomorrow our staff will be trained in the Team Teach behaviour management approach, which focuses on building positive relationships, preventing problems before they escalate, and keeping everyone safe. Through clear expectations, calm communication, and restorative conversations, we support students to take responsibility for their actions and learn from their choices, helping our school remain a safe, respectful, and welcoming place for all. Team Teach complements the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework that we have taken on at St Finbar's this year, they are designed to run side by side.
Whilst we understand that these student-free days may cause some challenges for families, they are valuable opportunities for teacher learning and to remain up to date.
Our swimming program is happening this term and will run from 25th August to the 4th September. We have had to change venues this year and we will be swimming at the Danny Frawley Centre in Linton St, Moorabbin. Swimming is an integral part of the Health and Physical Curriculum and will be reported on in the Semester 2 reports. We expect all children to participate fully in the program, unless there are genuine reasons preventing them from taking part. Students who aren't swimming for whatever reason will remain at school and be supervised in other classrooms.
We've had a very "Maths-y" week this week. It was wonderful to celebrate our Preps 100th Day of School last Friday at a dedicated assembly and the children enjoyed a whole day of celebrations back in their classrooms. Following on from the Prep 100 Days assembly, our older students also got to join in the fun with a Maths Emoji Treasure Hunt around the school, testing their mathematical skills with a competitive aspect thrown in as well. .
On Wednesday, over 80 students from Years 3 to 6 took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition. Thank you to our Maths leader Mrs Jo Fraser who organised these events.
I had some visitors to my office this week; some Year 1 students who presented some very convincing arguments for adopting a school pet. Thank you to Noah, Remy, Talia and Billie for your letters. I was particularly intrigued by Billie's suggestion that we get a school tiger, she just about had me convinced. Feel free to have a read of their letters and see what you think.
Take care and God Bless,
