Help Wanted!

The children of Hurlingham kindergarten are working on a project and would like to ask for our help.

Safety is a high priority discussion point for us  and as part of that curriculum the kinda are running a project this year with the children, supported and funded by the ELAA (Early Learning Association Australia) ‘Starting out Safely’ Program  and the TAC (Transport Accident Commission) , teaching them to be advocates for their own safety.

They have identified the need for pedestrian crossing markings on the service road of Nepean Highway.  Out the front of the kindergarten, there is an existing crossing with lights that allows for safe passage across Nepean Highway but there is no crossing zone to link this to the safety of the foot path.

In considering who else uses the crossing, apart from some of our families, we know there is  through traffic by local families coming to and from St Finbar's Primary School.   There is also high usage by local families and children accessing the sporting facilities, as dog walkers,  and as families accessing the park and playground which would include families within your community.

Could you please spend 5 mins scannign the QR code that links to a short survey to capture broader community comment on this important matter.  This data will be used to support their application to Bayside City Council which has oversight over the service lane.

I’ve included the QR code separately which will be active for 2 weeks.  I can drop in and collect the poster after that time.   I also include a separate link to the survey : https://form.typeform.com/to/dFKjNo6M
