Soccer Lightning Premiership
Last week we had the Interschool Soccer Lightning Premiership and it was amazing. There were a few teams that played in a round-robin throughout the day. Each team had about 5 different games where we played other schools and we had a lot of close games. Big shout out to Mr Gava for organising the entire day, He did such a great job despite the terrible weather in the morning nearly impacting if we would go forth with it. Thanks also to Mr Clear, Mrs Smith and Miss Briely for their support on the day.

St Kilda Excursion
On Wednesday the 19th of June the Year 5s and 6s went to St Kilda to walk the Solar System trail and we went to the Botanical Gardens to learn about plant and animal adaptations. We left St Joseph's at 9 am and travelled into St Kilda to start the planet walk. We started at Uranus and ended at the Sun. We had information sheets to fill out about all the different planets in our solar system. We didn't go to Neptune because it was 4.8 kilometres from the sun. We walked to each planet and wrote down all the information we needed to complete our task, on our worksheets. Some of the questions we needed to answer were the planets’ real diameters, the models’ diameters, and the distance from the sun. We walked from planet to planet and saw lovely scenery on the way. Once we completed the planet walk we started the calming eight-minute walk to the St Kilda Botanical Gardens. We went into the Conservatory building where we saw beautiful plants and fish inside. We also got warm chips from the teachers. In the Botanical Gardens, we wrote down animals and plants and how they adapted to their environment.

Term 3 Wrapper Free Wednesday
Dear Parents and Carers,
The Environment and STEM Captains have noticed a problem with rubbish in our yard, so we have come up with an idea to address it.
For Term 3, St. Joseph’s is going to introduce a “Wrapper Free Wednesday”.
We would like you to please try to put less plastic wrappers in your child's lunch. We will be putting some ways you can reduce plastic wrappers in lunches over the next few newsletters
Thank you for your support
Sophie, and Rhys.
