Captains Corner

Welcome to the Captain’s Corner, with Alyssia and Patrick!

This week we had Pyjama Day! ( An election idea from School Captain Alyssia’s speech) It was so fun seeing everybody getting into it and dressing up.

We had Taylor from St Vincent De Paul come to talk to our school about what St Vinnies does for the community. She told us that people who are in need can ring up St Vinnies and they will put them in contact with a volunteer who will provide them with the things they need.

Once they have been put in contact, the volunteer will come to them and chat with them about what they need so they can provide it, and every time they need help they have access to the volunteer. She educated us with everything she knew about her job and was so nice to us all.

Last week we had Interschool Netball Lightning Premiership and we are happy to say… WE WON!

Congratulations to everybody who participated and gave it a go! Special shout out to Cataleya for getting the winning goal with about 10 seconds left!  The whole game was so close but we just managed to pull it off! There is more detail in a write-up from the Sports Captains.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Interschool Soccer Lightning Premiership. It was a great atmosphere with everyone having a really good go at it, even though some people haven’t really played before, and some are very experienced with the game.

Today we had the Interschool AFL Lightning Premiership. It was great to see everyone representing our school really well. We also loved the sportsmanship and effort that everyone put in. Congratulations to everybody who participated.

The Year 5 and 6s also had an excursion to St Kilda for the planetary walk, which was 3.1 km. We took information about all the planets in our solar system and had a visual diagram of each planet as we walked down the line. It was amazing learning about our solar system and going to see wildlife in action at the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

Just a reminder that Friendship Fair Day is on next Friday so if you wish to come in casual clothes, you may. There will also be Dojo notes from class teachers with more information for each class.
