An Eventful End to Term
The final weeks of term have been truly eventful at Loreto Boarding House, with a calendar rich in celebration, connection and community.
In the lead-up to the Year 11 and 12 Formal, the house was abuzz with appointments and preparations, and by Saturday afternoon our boarders stepped out as glamorous young women. A long-standing tradition, the Boarding Garden Party was a highlight. Blessed with beautiful weather, it provided a wonderful opportunity for families to gather, photos to be taken, and for our younger boarders to admire their “big sisters.” Our Year 10 girls were exceptional in their supporting role, confidently serving canapés and refreshments throughout the afternoon.
During the Formal, our Boarding Parents and Friends hosted a gathering for families, while some of our younger boarders enjoyed an evening of bowling and playing arcade games at Kingpin Bowling. Many junior boarders also took private leave for social events and at one point during the Saturday evening we were left with only three boarders in the house, perhaps a record!
Last week we enjoyed a joyful Easter celebration over a delicious dinner prepared by our wonderful chefs and special Easter treats. The girls then made Easter candles in preparation for the Boarders’ stall at the Autumn Fair. With generous donations from families, supported by students at our stall, the fair was a lovely day spent in the sunshine supporting the College.
On Sunday evening, a group of boarders joined me to attend Palm Sunday Mass at St Ignatius alongside some Rostrevor boarders, offering a quiet and reflective close to a busy fortnight. Tonight, on our last day together before our girls travel home, our Boarders will enjoy an end-of-term celebration at Bounce!
