Japanese Day – Friday, August 29th
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Japanese Day on Friday, August 29th, to recognise and extend the wonderful learning our students have been doing in Japanese.
The day will feature special performances and workshops by a Japanese Sanshin musician (traditional Okinawan string instrument) and a Rakugo/Kyogen performer (Japanese traditional comedic storyteller and theatre).
Students will also participate in a Japanese-themed art activity within their classrooms. As this activity will involve painting, we kindly ask students in Years 3, 5 and 6 to bring old clothes (e.g. old shirt, old T-shirt) to wear over their uniforms to help protect them during the session.
To help us celebrate the day, students are welcome to come dressed in Japanese-inspired costumes or in red and white, the colours of the Japanese flag.
We look forward to celebrating this special cultural day with our school community!
