Williamstown Campus  News

Dear Williamstown Families,

It has been a great start to Term 4, with students getting straight into their learning without hesitation. Behaviour, uniform and the general demonstration of our College values have been exceptional and are a real credit to our students. It has been wonderful to see everyone return with such a positive attitude and a strong focus on making the most of the term ahead.

Outdoor Piano – Sharing Our Musical Talents

We have recently placed an outdoor piano near the canteen for students to enjoy during recess and lunch. It has been fantastic to see so many students taking the opportunity to sit down, play and share their musical talents with their peers.

One of the real highlights has been discovering just how many talented musicians we have within our student community. The piano has created a wonderful opportunity for students to express themselves, build connections and enjoy music together outside the classroom. We look forward to hearing plenty more performances throughout the term!

Year 7 STEM Learning at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Our Year 7 students are visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo this term as part of their STEM project, with 7L visiting last week.

Students had a fantastic day exploring the zoo, learning about conservation and discovering how they can help protect these amazing animals. The excursion provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, encouraging students to investigate, ask questions and consider the role science and technology play in protecting wildlife.

It was wonderful to see students engaging so enthusiastically with their learning while enjoying a day outside the classroom. We look forward to hearing about the experiences of our other Year 7 classes as they visit throughout the term!

GATEWAYS Maths Extension Program

During the final week of Term 3, we welcomed students from many of our feeder primary schools to participate in the GATEWAYS Maths program. The day provided an exciting opportunity for students to engage in high-level mathematical thinking and extension activities, challenging them to apply their knowledge, solve complex problems and explore mathematical concepts in greater depth.

Fit 2 Focus – Building Healthy Habits

Our Year 7 and 8 students have kicked off the Fit 2 Focus program, designed to help students develop healthy habits through fitness and physical activity.

The program supports student wellbeing by promoting the connection between physical activity, concentration, mental health and overall wellbeing. It provides students with opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence and develop habits that can support them both in and out of the classroom.

Sporting Success – WMR Athletics

There have been some fantastic sporting achievements across our student community recently, and we are proud to celebrate the dedication and talent of our athletes.

At the Western Metropolitan Region (WMR) Athletics, our students produced some outstanding performances, with students qualifying for the State Finals in javelin, high jump and discus.

Congratulations to our athletes on their achievements:

  • Ayden – Third place in javelin
  • Kiara – Second place in discus
  • Hugo – First place in javelin and second place in high jump

These results are a wonderful reflection of the students' hard work, commitment and determination. We wish our qualifiers all the very best at the State Finals!

Tennis Success – Pat Pearce Cup and J250 State Finals

Congratulations to the students who have recently achieved outstanding results in tennis competitions.

At the 2026 Pat Pearce Cup, students representing the Northern Suburbs Junior Tennis Association (NSJTA) competed at North Ringwood Tennis Club in a closely contested competition. NSJTA secured the overall win, making it a fantastic result for everyone involved. Well done to all the students who represented their association with such pride!

We also celebrate the outstanding performances at the 2026 J250 State Finals in Bendigo, where players achieved excellent results across multiple age groups and events:

  • Under 12 Girls Doubles Main Draw – Winners
  • Under 12 Girls Singles Main Draw – Third place
  • Under 16 Boys Singles Main Draw – Third place

These are exceptional achievements and reflect the dedication, persistence and sportsmanship required to compete at this level. Congratulations to all the players on their success. We are proud to celebrate the sporting accomplishments of our students, both on and off campus!

College Awards Evening – Thursday 22 October

Our College Awards Evening will take place this Thursday at the Sub-Station in Newport. Families of students receiving an award will already have been notified.

The evening provides an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the hard work, commitment, growth and achievements of our students throughout the year. If your child is receiving an award, you will have been notified. I sincerely hope you are able to join us to share in the occasion and take pride in all they have accomplished.

SunSmart – Staying Safe in the Sun

As we move further into the warmer months, it is important that we continue to take sun protection seriously. Victorian Department of Education guidance recommends a combination of sun protection measures when UV levels reach 3 or above, which generally applies from mid-August through to the end of April.

We encourage families to support students to develop good sun-safe habits, including wearing appropriate sun-protective clothing and hats, seeking shade where possible, wearing sunglasses and applying SPF50 or SPF50+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen.

Please take a moment to check that your child has the appropriate sun protection items as we head into the warmer weather.

End-of-Year Events – Dates and Permissions

Planning is well underway for our end-of-year events, and further information will begin to be shared with families over the coming weeks.

Some activities and excursions have strict limits on student numbers, so it is important that families read the information provided and submit permission and any required payments as soon as possible. Where places are limited, delays in providing permission may affect our ability to finalise arrangements.

We appreciate your support in helping us ensure students can participate in these valuable experiences and finish the year on a positive note.

Thank you once again for the wonderful start to Term 4. It is pleasing to see our students demonstrating such positive attitudes towards their learning and contributing to a respectful, supportive and engaging campus environment. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, through creative pursuits or in our wider community, our students continue to give us plenty to celebrate.

We look forward to a busy and rewarding term ahead!

Regards
